How do i midi sync with electribe and mininova?

Post by mickeyjames »

I am having trouble getting midi time clocks on my electribes to sync with my mininova. I have tried a few set ups and slowly but surely the mini nova steps out. Other set ups mean that the mininova is triggered when i don't want it to be.
Ideally the set up would be daisy chained with the mininova at the end as this is the only device which does not carry a midi thru option.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated, Thanksjavascript:emoticon(':?')

It's often the case that the last instruments in a midi chain suffer in the way you describe. What I think you need is a 'midi splitter' which takes a midi signal and sends it out via several midi outs (I think you can have roughly anything between 3-10). This effectively places all your instruments second in the chain and prevents any lag etc.

I have found a company called midi solutions online, which seem to be offering the most professional looking stuff. i will try and run the mininova direct from one electribe and see if there is any latency, if not this will solve the problem temporarily until the midi splitter arrives. Thanks for the help.javascript:emoticon('')

Ok. So i have remembered that i also had the problem that the electribe was triggering the mininova despite being on different midi channels. There must be a way to stop this happening! Any help?

If this is happening with only the two instruments then you will probably have more than one instrument on the Electribe set to the same channel as the one you are trying to create (it's usually a drum)- Change them all to the same unwanted channel leaving only the one you want to use- have the Mininova set to the same channel- see what happens- does it play?

Check all your midi filters are set the way you need them- check the manual for this.

Have a look at the 'sticky' midi topic at the top of the Electribe topic pages.
