So say I want to practice along to a midi file of a song (so i work on playing at different tempos, etc.)
I load the midi file from the usb drive into the first song spot.
But now all the programs use bank A000-A127 which messes up all the sounds, because it should be using the gm bank right?
So instead of manually switching each sound (which is confusing in itself cause you always have to add 1 to the program number), is there a way to load it automatically into the gm bank? I know in the menu options tab there is something called GM initialize but that just seems to put eveything on program gm1 which doesnt help me much. Plus sometimes it reverts back when you start the song over.
How to play a midi file in the sequencer

This has been asked and posted here for a least a decade since I first got my Triton. Korg should really put this on like the first page of the manual.
I remember having that same feeling of "what is going on?" until I stumbled across "GM Initialize"
In the Kronos Op Guide p. 103 you will find this:
"GM Initialize: This command transmits a GM System On message to the Sequencer mode, resetting all MIDI tracks to the GM settings. For more information, see “GM Initialize” on page 626 of the Parameter Guide."
Param guide gives the detailed info. I think that will get you what you need.
Good luck

If it changed sounds after it started, then there is is probably a bank change message in the midi file. The way I deal with that is go into track editing and then "MIDI Event Edit" and delete the line with the program change.
In my opinion that gives you more flexibility that figuring out what instrument to put on what track because then you can freely assign anything to the track the that event wont change it on you. Just save the sequence or output a new midi file with that change.

Alright, have never tried to do anything with midi event edit. Didnt know it was so extensive. Anyway so i deleted the change program event for all 13 channels that were used. then went and manually changed to the programs i wanted for each sound (ones that were better versions of the GM sounds). Took about 15 minutes but i guess its the only way to do it.
Is there a way to delete all program change events at once or do you have to do it track by track?
