There are a ton of possibilities. How are you connecting it to your computer? Are your connections stable? Can anything else (a DAW, MIDI-OX, etc.) see it? Is the MKXL+ set up to be connected (refer to manual)? Is the editor set up to handle incoming info? Does your editor handle the MKXL+? All of this is very important info and will help us immensely.

This is what i do to connect mk xl to mk editor

On mk xl+ protection-off,sys ex enable,routing midi +usb
Install latest korg usb driver
Install mk xl sound editor
Connect via usb cable
On mk xl SE pref choose auto scan and receive all data on start up

The result is "microkorg xl is not found" and "midi port is not specified"

Help please..

You'll want to make sure the MIDI channels match and that your computer and other MIDI-enabled software you may have can see it. Try unchecking autoscan and select the actual input and output. The input should show up as microKORG XL+ - KBD/KNOB, and the output should be microKORG XL+ - Sound. If they are not there, there's another problem.

Have you tried a different USB cable? Make sure that the computer recognises that there is something in that USB port.

Have you tried plugging in the synth via USB before turning it on? Sounds silly, but could be the problem.

It is totally possible that the editor will simply not work, as well. There's no fix for that, but that's also last resort.

Still not working

I have tried all your tips

Usb cable & mk xl works fine when i use with another application like Reason or midi monitor on ipad via camera connector kit

Unchecking autoscan
MIDI IN MICROKORG XL+- KBD/KNOB
MIDI OUT MICROKORG XL+-SOUND

But still "microKORG XL is not connected on the specified port"

Why so difficult?
:?: :(

It could very well be possible that it simply will not work. The only other thing I can think to try is to use a good external MIDI-USB converter. Or, I don't know if there's been a firmware update, but see if there are any updates for the XL+. Have you tried another computer? If those also don't work, then it probably won't work at all for whatever reason. There's literally hundreds of things that can possibly be wrong. It's just one of those things where it 'should work'. If it doesn't, well, it doesn't. Sorry mate.

There are known problems with MIDI in 10.8 I don't know what they are though.

Was the other mac a different OS version?

Perhaps try doing it without installing the Korg driver. Also make sure you have the latest driver from the net and not from the disk you get with the keyboard.

See my posts about getting the XL+ sound editor to talk with the XL =

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=77812

Mind you this has to do with the order in which the Korg Driver sits in your MIDI port (it needs to be under 10). I know this is a fix for Windows, but I belive the Korg Driver and Driver uninstaller behaves similarly on Mac (If I am wrong, please correct me). In any event, that fixed this issue right away. If I added nothing but noise to this thread, then my apologies!
