Maximum .wav file size when bouncing?

Post by Sonork »

When "bouncing all tracks" of something I've created in the sequencer, the process appeared to proceed normally -- but the resulting file (~52MB) doesn't contain all the audio. Rather, when the file is played either on Kronos or on my PC, the sound stops abruptly before the end of the original music (which can still be played in the sequencer) is reached.

What could be causing this? Maybe a limit to the size of the bounced file? Is there a way to set this? I can't find anything about this in the manuals.

All comments welcome.

Thanks,

Sonork

Just a point of clarification. The .wav file seemed to max out at 56.250 MB (according to Windows 7). This also seems to have occurred with another .sng file that I bounced, suggesting a file size limit. To get these files to my PC I bounced to a 16GB USB drive with lots of spare capacity, another clue that Kronos stopped bouncing before the entire sequencer output had been played and was not limited by the desitnation memory device.

As before, all suggestions welcome...

Hi Sonork, I had this problem when I first tried the same procedure. The problem is easily solved.

I'm not by my Kronos right now but I can tell you that somewhere within the procedure for bouncing and creating a WAV file, you will notice a setting which tells kronos HOW LONG to record the output. This is a default length of about 2 minutes (I think), but all you need to do is adjust the recording length to match your song length and then the Kronos will capture the WHOLE song and not just a part of it.

This setting doesn't have to be exact, just make sure it's greater than the song length.

Good luck finding it...

Thanks, Niblit!

On the Audio In/Sampling page of the sequencer Play/Rec menu there is a "Sample time" setting. The default was 5 minutes and 59.999 seconds, compared to my 10.5 minute sequence. As you suggested, increasing that setting resolved the problem.

There is no mention of this in the Kronos operation guide (page 195) where the bouncing procedure is specified. However, it is described in the "Audio settings" discussion on page 128.

I still have a lot to learn about Kronos...

I made this error once :!: I made a medley of disco songs from the 70'ths. Used it my trio for many years on different keyboards. So when I got Kronos, I started bouncin down all my mifiles to wav. Didn't listen trough the song while it was bouncin. SO you can imagine how suprised me an my band mates where when the song suddenly stopped a minut before the medley was finished  we just kept playin so i dont think audience did notice to much
