Tried to connect Kronos to pc / two questions

Post by Big Bear »

I use Cubase6.5 (64 bit) and Midex8 to create records with Korg Kronos and Tyros3. All equipment is working fine.
To make programming more easily, I would like to connect Kronos to the computer (running W7).

1st question: Kronos hard drive is not installed ...
Installed latest drivers.
The Kronos harddrive is not recognised by computer.
There is no Kronos hard drive to see.

2nd question: Editor installed but not functional ...
After intalling and starting the Kronos Editor the following message dissapears:
"A compatible Korg Kronos with V1.6 was not detected"
Weeks ago I installed V2.02 ...

After installing (without usb connection) I restarted the computer, but without results.

Thank you for any suggestion!

1. Go to Korgs Folder and in there click on Install MIDI Device, you will see Kronos in there, Install it.
No, there will be NO KRONOS HD to see.

The editor you have installed will not work with V2.0.2 OS. The 2.0 editor is still being worked on. :(

Regarding the 1st question: It's possible to browse the Kronos HDD via FTP, but you'll need a USB to ethernet adapter for that. Consult the manual for recommended models, not all are working with the Kronos.

Of course it's installed. When you turn on the power switch does Kronos not boot up?
The Kronos harddrive is not recognised by computer.
There is no Kronos hard drive to see.
Do you have a USB ethernet adapter connecting Kronos to the computer and have you downloaded and installed a working FTP Client? ( Cyberduck or other)
2nd question: Editor installed but not functional ...
After intalling and starting the Kronos Editor the following message dissapears:
"A compatible Korg Kronos with V1.6 was not detected"

You downloaded and installed both the editor and the new Kronos OS and clearly didn't read even one paragraph.
I'm very sorry to say this Big Bear but please RTFM. (Install notes and new features)
After installing (without usb connection) I restarted the computer, but without results.
Exactly what results would you expect without a proper connection to the computer?

Big Bear,
My intention is not to be course so please excuse the tone if it sounds that way.
You asked questions and got answers..

Try to ask something I cannot find in the manual ...
Read the manual from page 1127 ev.
So nice that there is a forum to help, even when the questions are misunderstood, or I don't understand the manual
...
I do understand that the editor is not working with V2.02 (Thanks for your answer :)

Still the question that the Kronos HD is not visible in Win7/tree:
I read the manual about connecting to pc, but without result

The Kronos is connected well.
The drivers are installed well.
The USB cable is working well.

I appreciate your suggestions

Bear, as we said, the Kronos HD cannot be seen in PC...unless Ethernet.

I realize it get's confusing, I too have trouble all the time.
If you haven't found it already maybe this will help..

USB Ethernet and FTP support
The KRONOS now supports USB Ethernet adaptors and includes a built‐in FTP server for fast, easy file transfer with personal computers. You can back up files to your computer, transfer samples to the KRONOS, and organize and re‐name files and directories on the KRONOS internal disks.
The KRONOS supports a specific set of off‐the‐shelf USB Ethernet adaptors. Supported devices as of May 2012 are listed below.
• Apple USB Ethernet Adapter (MC704ZM/A) • Cisco Linksys USB‐300M
• TRENDnet TU2‐ET100
• BUFFALO LUA3‐U2‐AGT
• BUFFALO LUA3‐U2‐ATX • BUFFALO LUA‐U2‐KTX • IODATA ETX3‐US2
• Logitec LAN‐TX/U2B
• Logitec LAN‐TX/U2H3 • Planex UE‐100TX‐G3
Adaptors other than those listed above will not function properly.
For more information, see “Connecting to computers via USB Ethernet and FTP” on page 167 of the Operation Guide.

Post back if you're still confused.
