I mean instead of these midget small keys, for a workstation 49keys is plenty enough so why bother with this silly mini idea???
I'd pay double the price to have something like korg 3 with guts of microstation.

The microSTATION is just a smaller version of the M3 and M50. The M50 is probably what you'd want.

but there is no M50 49 or 37 keys, 61keys is to big for airline travel.

Workstations typically don't come with less than 61 keys. I can't think of any that exist. Korg has the microX, but it doesn't have a sequencer. I've been playing keys for about 15 years now and the minikeys are honestly not too bad on this thing. They are much bigger and better feeling than the original microKORG. The only alternative I can think of is getting the M3 in rack form and use a small MIDI controller. The two might fit in a single case.

Ditto on the option. M3 module and 49 key MIDI controller is your best bet. But I'm sure it would weight more than the MS alone, so why bother. The MS is small enough.

if you want 49 keys and portability - get a USB keyboard and Logic 9 (or Reaper, for that matter)...and stop complaining. go to any music store in the world and you can find a DAW and a usb 49 keyboard. ho-hum. the microstation is one of the most unique products out there. it's really great. if you want less keys, or more playability on full size keys, there are plenty of options for you. but to have 61 keys that you can carry on the airplane (within U.S. and european carry-on restrictions!), and have tons of 'decent' sounds, and (all-things-considered) some 'not bad' synthesis....well, that's amazing. only thing better would be if you could load your own samples, and more easily map all the parameters. (and to control the busses - L/R independant of HP, for example.. oh, and a usb audio interface, oh, and batteries, oh and....
there's always something more to want. that's consumerism.

Hell, they could have left the keys off and made it a module and I'd have been happy. (Actually probably happier, it took some serious doing to get it into my rig...) I drive mine from an 88 controller.

But enough people have expressed their satisfaction w/the current keys, so Korg must have had a vision....

just go to home depot and get a circular saw.
you could probably make a great module with the keys off.
just remember not to cut the headphone jack and careful those fingers!
