Thinking about selling my M3M. What would be a fair price?

Post by madbeatzyo111 »

Well, I've gotten some very cool music out of the M3M in the past year but I need better sequencing capabilities, so I think I'll be selling it to finance a different workstation or DAW setup. It's fully loaded: Xpanded, EXB-256 memory upgrade, EXB-Radias, never been gigged. I'm thinking to post it up for 1500USD. Too low/high?

I won this auction just a week or so ago... look at the details and description of what all it came with...

Just so you can use it as a reference... (you are WAY out of range)

It's not worth it to sell at 950USD; the guy must have needed the cash quite badly. Did you receive it successfully and how is the condition of the unit?

I might go as low as 1300 maybe, or 1100 with the EXB-Radias removed. Otherwise, I'd just as soon keep it or donate it.

How retarded is that.... You would donate it (give for free) before you sold it for 950? That makes no sense.

M3 prices have fallen sharply...very quickly. You can barely sell a m3 61 key on eBay for $1100. There is no way you'd get 1300 for it. M3 modules are barely hitting $800... Do some research.

They're selling on eBay for $1600 new so I would be very shocked if you got $1500 for it second hand.

There is currently a second hand one for sale for $885.

The one that Apex bought wasn't sold for that price because the seller was desperate for the cash. It was an auction, so it sold for that price because no one else wanted to pay any more than the price that Apex paid.

and I purchased with Buy It Now. There was no auction. He wasn't desperate for the cash either... THE PRICES HAVE DROPPED CONSIDERABLY.

at least for the time being....

plain and simple.

Why do you have to use that word apex? And to think you're one of the members here I respect. Used to. And yes, I would donate it to a local church that I know could use one.

I'm aware that it sells brand new for 1600USD, but that's without the EXB-256 and EXB-Radias installed--both of which cost me >500USD. So I paid in all >2000USD for my M3M. I really don't think 1300USD is asking too much, especially as it's in like-new condition.

To be honest 950USD would be an insult to me AND the M3 and KORG itself. I would NEVER put it up for that price. It gives the impression that KORG products don't keep their value. As a KORG user and supporter I won't be a part of that.

I didn't mean retarded in THAT sense... just thought that it made no sense. You could sell it to the church for $500... since you know they need one. I mean you made it seem like (well actually said it) $950 was an insult, but you'd give it away.... I just didn't think that made sense. No need to lose any respect. I'm just being honest.... (the least you could do is respect the honesty)

as far as the price... keyboards do this YEAR round. when something else is announced the 2ndary market takes a hit. With the recent announcement of the Kronos X guys are seeing it as another chance at the king kronos. So m3s galore went up for sale... everyone knows when supply is high prices are low... so right now the m3 is selling very low.

I do ALOT of gear reselling (about to open a used gear store here in my local town)

In the last 2 weeks I have made the following purchases (for resale of course):

M3-73 key - $1075 (shipped)
M3-61 key (w/ EXB M256) - $850 (shipped)
M3m (w/ EXB-M256 & EXB Radias (plus Karma software & extras etc) -$960
M3 - 61 (w/ EXB Radias) - $999 (plus shipping (this was from Guitar Center)

So as you can see, I've done my research and I really do know what I'm talking about FIRST HAND. I'm not just trying to be a thorn in your side. I just don't think right now is a good selling time for the M3... I am still trying to sell... but it's been a struggle.

Again, just being honest. No harm no foul.

Exactly right apex - new releases hit the secondary market hard.

Look at the OASYS - here's a £5.5k keyboard (plus you had to buy the extra sound engines - so well over £6k - yes; UK pounds) and I see that American sellers are struggling to get $2,000 for an 88 (yes, Dollars).

A keyboard hit doesn't get any bigger than that.

Yeah I know what you meant apex, I just don't like the use of that word in that context. It's offensive to some people--in the same way the word "gay" is used to describe something negative.

And fine ok, I can respect the honesty. Frankly I'm a little shocked right now at how much the M3 has dropped in the used market (I don't think it's nearly that bad with KORG's lesser workstations/synths). I guess I'll keep it and work harder to find a place for it in my flow.

Or I can always sell to biggrime. I wouldn't mind selling to him at a huge loss because he loves the M3 so much ;)

Tell your buyer to check eBay.....I'm sure his mind will change very quickly.

Are you selling to someone you know personally?

And op if you don't sell to bg then I will....I actually thought he was talking to me.

Go ahead apex. I'm going to try to find a way to use mine (most likely will have to go DAW as much as I hate software). It'll be a little while before I figure out if I can use it or not.

Though I don't get why you're buying so many M3s. What do you mean by resale? There can't be too much profit to be had can there?
