broken monotron range knob
i got the monotron the other day and went to fiddling with the range knob on the top left side i gave it a half turn clockwie and the whole cube with the screw snapped off is there any way i can fix it or would it be better to just buy another one? id really prefer a quick fix but not sure what to do about it

Do you mean the range *switch* or the *octave* knob?
Either way, it is definitely fixable... If the component is still working, you have to solder all the contacts back in place. If it's not, you have to figure out what the component is, get the same one, and solder it in. Whether that will be *easy* or not I can't really say... but if you or someone you know can do it, it will definitely be cheaper than buying a new monotribe.

Er, sorry, that question about knob/switch I was thinking of the MonoTRIBE, not the monotron -- but, now I'm even less sure which knob you mean. Just the Pitch knob?

I think that's referring to the small trim pot used to adjust the range of the ribbon controller, it's on the top left next to the volume dial. I think resoldering it might be a possibility but you or someone you know is going to have to have skill with surface mount components. in the end it may be less of a hassle just to purchase a new Monotron.
