Why The Kronos Has Destroyed My Life

Post by firstlovedan »

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? SORCERY, BLACK MAGIC? MIND MANIPULATION? GOVERNMENTAL TAKE OVER???
You have to know that Korg is selling to musicians.... Take Bi Polar artists who can never make up their minds about ANYTHING, and you give them NINE...I SAID N I N E SYNTH ENGINES, AND TELL THEM TO FOCUS ON MAKING MUSIC!!! AArrrrggghh!!!!
Then, you give them millions of ways to manupulate the sounds. You have all these bottons, choices, sliders.....Do I leave the piano lid up, down, halfway? Oscillators in unisone, detuned, a 4th or 5th apart? Or ummmmm... What efx do i use? Could this be a governmental brainwashing scheme? Could this be why the earth explodes on Dec 23rd 2112? No I don't have all the answers, but I am about to. There is SOMETHING REALLY WRONG HERE! KORG (if that's your real name), I Am Watching You... Every move you make, every heart you break, I'll be watching you! So beware. OK, nuff for now, gonna go work on that killer sax sound! LOL
I SIMPLY LOVE THIS THING, AND I LOVE THIS FORUM AS WELL! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Welcome FLD. For a second there I thought your post was going to be another inane rant about the Kronos...PHEW!

Yes, The Kronos is a black hole that will take over your life, but in a really good way. You'll spend many happy hours banging your head against a brick wall trying to figure things out, but in a really good way. You'll spend more time creating that "killer combi" than is necessary, but in a good way.

I could go on, but I won't... A year in, and I've only just scratched the surface of what this beastie can do :D

Seriously if you can't get most of a track built from the Kronos alone, synths may not be for you :D

In fact I enjoy turning everything else off and 'limiting' myself to the Kronos (if you can call it limiting).

I am also quite uninterested in anything new with keys on it for some time. Maybe in 10 years or so...

Cheers,
B

:)

Your post bought a smile to my face.

I will be dead, buried, decomposed and reincarnated as a fossil fuel before I work out how to use the thing to its full potential.

Makes me feel anxious that I'm a dismantlement to the machine. I can feel it sitting there, silently judging my ineptitude.

I have to echo everybody else's take on the subject. I might add that the further I scratch, I keep finding more good stuff. :) :)

I could not agree more .

I have owned many keyboards in the past , from my childhood days when i got my first Roland arranger , to the Triton days when i was in college, till my long time use of the Motif series .

But this , will all honesty, is the first keyboard which i don't treat as a machine or writing/performing tool .

Words like machine or tool don't do justice .

I prefer to use terms like : " companion " or "partner ".

My wife says keep the lid up...but the seat down. I hope this helps.

I have a 16 channel Mixer with all my other synths plugged into it, monitors etc. Last night I broke out an 8 channel mixer plugged in the Kronos, Monitors and Roland GT-100 Guitar Effects processor for my Guitar, and thats it. All my other synths, effects processors, midi interface, audio interface are now unplugged and screaming "please don't put my on ebay". Hmm this Kronos might just make me some money. :)
