PA2x+Motif Rack XS MSB,LSB send?

Post by King Korg »

Hello everybody,

Anybody knows how to remote select a Motif Rack XS "multi" from PA2x?
I know I have to send MSB: 63 + LSB: 68 + multi # (1-127).

But how?

Hi!

You can send 63.68.PC on the same midi track number you have set in the motif rack as receiving midi-channel, when the track-control on the Pa2XPro
with the same midi-track set to external.

For the Yamaha Motif rack the get the program-change you want, you have to give it a PC = Multi-number - 1.

Thanks for reply Tom

What I want is to use PA2 as controler only and Motif Rack as generator for all 8 tracks of a style.
Of course I've put all 8 tracks on external, everything is working but I want to memorize Motif "multi" on PA2,either as style or performance,or song..etc
I mean,if I select a style, performance or song (one of them, doesn't matter which one) to be selected automaticaly the multi from Motif.
Is this possible,or not?

Hi!

You only need to have one track sending the program-change command to Motif rack. I am using track 3 on my Pa2XPro (Up3, it is often muted in the style).

Tracks set to external will not play on the Pa2XPro.

If you save the setup in a STS and save the style in songbook it will automatically select the multi with the style when you select that song.

Ok,I found the solution

I don't know why but is working only on midi channel 1 (upper 1)
You have to send on this track 63.68.0-127 ,then save it as performance.

Yamaha Motif setup:

1. Press 'Voice'-button
2. Press ' Utility'-button
3. Choose 'VoiceMidi'
4. Choose 'Receive Ch'
5 Set 'Receive Ch' to the same midi-channel that Pa2XPro is sending program-change' on.
6. Press 'Store'-button
7. Press ' Multi'-button

Korg Pa2XPro setup:

1. Choose the style you want to play.
2. Press 'Songbook'-button
3. Start with ex. Varation 1 & STS1
4. Press 'Menu'-button
5. Choose ' Track Controls'
6. Set the track you are sending program-change on to 'External'
7. At the second row from top change E: MSB.LSB.PC
to 63.68.PC by touching the numbers on screen.
PC = Multinumber - 1
8. Set all the other tracks you want to only play Motif to
'External'. With track set to 'Both' it will play Pa2XPro and Motif.
With track set to 'Internal' it will only play Pa2Xpro.
Only one track in the STS have to have the Program-change-number.
9. Press 'Songbook'-button
10. Choose 'Book Edit 1'
11. Check 'Write Current Resourses'
Check 'Write STS'
12. Press 'Write'
13. Give the song a new Name.
14. Press Ok.
15. Repeat from point 4 - 10 for every Variation and every STS (2-4) and you will use in that song but:
11. Check ' Write STS'
12. Press 'Write'
13. Use same Name (Choose 'Replace')
14. Press Ok

I hope this will do what you want!

Hi Tom,

Thank you very much for your help,I already solved the problem.
The difference is I prefer to save in performance because of faster acces.
Now I understand why It was working only on channel 1.Because I was in "multi page" (and utility from multi is different than utility from voice)
Well,MIDI is not for everyone,I am happy there are people like you to help,Big Thanks again,

Regards
