Kronos Moog heaven: Karo EXS 61 pedal bass

Post by jimknopf »

I belong to those who always felt some envy towards Moog Taurus pedal bass owners, who had the pleasure to use this thing along withe their Minimoog. The sounds coming from that baby belong to the warmest, deepest and phattest analog vintage sounds you can imagine.

Now when the Karo libraries appeared, EX61 was of course my first target. And after upgrading my Kronos with a 120Gb Intel SSD and listening to the demos carefully, I bought the library.

What can I say? I am completely overwhelmed by both the sample quality and the careful Kronos programming of this library. It has "only" 64 patches, but among them are about 80% I would use anytime. That's quite a lot compared to the 20-30% I normally find useful in bought libraries! It delivers immedialtely useable first class patches of all the classics this synth was known for.

- first of all, you get all the steaming long release basses
- then the classical more dry Moog basses ideal for Funk, R&B, HipHop and many other styles
- you get a Moogish organ bass
- you get some extremetly warm pad and string sounds of outstanding sonic quality
- finally there are some useable leads (though most of these are not the best I could imagine, but still typical) and extras (ring generator sounds etc.)

This stuff is highly musical, and I can sincerely recommend it.
Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5
