Thanks, I could do more and better but am a composer not a pianist so I have to try a few times before not stumbling over a performance. Thick chords, runs, etc sound very good as well my open sorta of style. I friend who has been a session performer on major releases on keyboards stopped by and was floored by the Austrian--wants to get the Kronos for that alone.

One more improve. Just fooling around with the Austrian Dark Grand to explore the sound of this instrument a bit more. Might be helpful to those considering this piano.

Very nice demos! Given that this was based on a Bosendorfer Imperial Grand, does one has access to the additional 9 bass notes that are found on the acoustic instrument via the standard 88-note keyboard?Jeff Gibbs wrote:Here are a couple sample improv recordings of the Austrian Piano for those of you considering the instrument. I might add that mostly what I like is the Austrian's perceived responsiveness . Others may react differently, it is after all subjective. By the way, I have NEVER bought a board without expansion options available at a later date most especially piano. The German Piano is stunning, and the Austrian FOR ME is an even better fit.
Here is the basic Austrian Grand:

And here is a fun new age program I like very much:

Yes, you can access the additional notes via a controller. You just have to transpose the program down an octave from the Kronos front panel.KLSinCT wrote:Given that this was based on a Bosendorfer Imperial Grand, does one has access to the additional 9 bass notes that are found on the acoustic instrument via the standard 88-note keyboard?
You can also access the low notes via the SW1 switch on Kronos, but as far as I can tell, you can't do that with a controller. It might be able to be done via a CC message, but I have not tried that yet.

i finally got the Austrian piano yesterday, i loved the sound of the German Grand, but after an evening of using the Austrian piano i must syay i'm very pleased with that new piano sound.
Especially the Dark variations of the Austrian piano's are my favorites. I've programmed a couple of new piano sounds for Ambient music with those sounds and all i can say is: WOW!
The sonic character is quite different then the german one, and they both complement eachother very well. I had to use velocity curve 9 (designed for the piano) to use the full audio range but after that it was a great experience.
I don't know if a lot of people have this EXS-12 expansion, but i will upload an ambient EXS12 piano soundset when i finished the programming.

The austrian piano is really great. I still prefer the japanese piano. The austrian sounds a bit too "hard" for my taste, too fast release time...
But liking it or not, I still think it's pretty expensive. I purchased a 250 eur plugin for my Yamaha:
- It contains much more samples
- It was a hardware module, which makes it more expensive to produce (I think)

I also like the Austrian piano, I think it will cut through the mix very easily in a rock kind setting.
I probably going to remove the Japanese grand because memory doesn't allow me to load all 3 piano's (I also want EXs3).
