Pls help! My Kronos failed to power up

Post by georger »

Hi
My Korg Kronos is not switching the power on. Im in a bit of panic mode today being a Friday.
This afternoon, I switched the power to on and left it to boot, but after sometime, thinking it might've booted up, I found the display saying failed and also said 'disconnect any usb devices and try again'. I did nt have any usbs connected to it. But switched power off, tried again after sometime, came back to normal, worked sometime and then switched it off. I came back after few hrs and then it repeated the same failed display and I tried to restart, but never showed any sign of power going in. since the audio cable is still on it, I could hear a usual thug noise wen I switch power on, but no lights(around bender wheel), no display, nothing. Tried few different power leads, no use.
Pls help!
George

If you hear a noise it is not the cable or power plug.

I'm afraid you have to contact Korg support.

Unfortunately, you aren't the first to report this kind of problem.. Hopefully you are near a service center.

Yes, maybe that help you

Try to open the back of your kronos
Reset the ram
Or get the new ram for your kronos (DDR 2 PC 6400)

Hope that works

Ariadi, when your Kronos failed and the DVD Drive install didn't fix it, did you replace the RAM to fix the problem. If not, what was the problem and how did you resolve it. Thanks.

When it's happened to my kronos, the distributor change it with new one

And then it happened again with my second kronos
Someone in this forum told me to replace RAM with another
And then I replace original RAM with two pieces Corsair DDR2 pc 6400 2 Gb
And the problem never exist again until now

Thanks God

Same with my OASYS.
When I upgraded the RAM it would sometimes not boot. So I bough a second SIMM identical to the new one I had installed.... Haven't ever had this problem ever since.

Same here. I bought a 1GB version of the memory that came with the Kronos and there were no more problems, though I did get a boot failure on one occasion.
