MIDI in Combi Mode: Channel 1 is always active
Hi,
I'm wondering if i am missing something: Let's say I have eight active parts in a combi which use channel 1-8. When I change the MIDI channel in Global mode to 2, the keybaord plays channel 2's part, but channel 1 is still played also. No matter what channel I go to in Global Mode, channel 1 is always active. Is there anythinng I can do to change this?
Thanks
Orri

My intuition would say channel should not be played. Are you sure this happens?

Did you try a predefined combi (like I-A000 Era of Kronos) and set the global channel to 2?
I'm at work now so I cannot check it.

Yes, I understood that, but if the first channel of your combi is assigned to gch instead of 1, it will sound nontheless. Setting the midi channel of a combi track to gch will asign it to whatever the global midi channel is, so if the first track is assigned to gch, and the second track is assigned to 2, you will hear both if your global midi channel is 2.Orri wrote:Actually, I have already set the global channel to 2; still, channel 1 is the one which is played constantly.

Yes, I misunderstood at first, sorry. However, no part in my combi is asigned to ghc, but all of them are assigned to a specific channel.
I tried I A-000 inbetween: When stepping through the global MIDI channels, parts 1 and 2 alwyas play. That's ok, since they are set to gch. I f I change this to ch1, they remind silent as I move to another global channel. That's what I would expect my own combis to do also. However, there is sometinhg in my combis that's wrong, so maybe I should rebuild these using somethin like I A-000 as a starting point. Only a hunderd combis I've done so far...
Thanks for your replies, helped me alot to get on track for a solution.

Orri,
If you haven't already, have a look at the GE Setup/Key Zones screen P7-1 and check to see if any of the Timbre Thru boxes are checked -- these are at the lower right of the screen. If any are checked, then uncheck them. I don't want to waste your time with a long explanation for now... but will explain later if this fixes it.

Nothing is different, well shouldn't be, but maybe it is an unintended change.Orri wrote:... Instead of taking I A-0000 as a starting point, why not sarting with an Init Combi? But if I do so, there it is again: No channel assigned to "gch", but as I go through the channels in global mode, channel one constantly plays...
What is different then in "Era of KRONOS"?
I used in the past a lot of Korg synths as slave and then the combis would not sound too so I really am interested what the problem is.
