Only got them b/c i have credits from oasys purchase. I'd be very unhappy if i'd paid for these.

I'll see what the new samples offer us, although, I'm Not looking forward to the new sampled piano, I've been put off by the keybed and pianos lol
Wow, that sure makes me hesitant to use my credits on these...I hope some of the next releases get a better response. :)

Maybe I'm being too harsh but these sort of libraries always sound too generic, they dont seem to have any sort of artistic flavor

+1 nothing inspiring there at all; and nothing that can't be done on the OASYS either...

sound libraries

Post by wallacec »

Got 2 of the sound libs today and wasn't really impressed with the variety or quality.
Had to reboot the sonos in order for the volume to sound properly
Some major distortion in some of the combis and the eq seems to be off on some of them
I can only gather that perhaps they will run better under os 1.5

I really wonder why Korg publishes such stuff, which is barely above the level (and in part below) of free available user patches (Korgpatches.com).

The patches of the first three Korg libraries sound like some of us had made them on the fly on a free weekend, and certainly not like taking anything to "the next level".

I still think that among those non-streaming patches done for Kronos-engines, the one thing that users want is not delivered by Korg so far: providing classical, immediately useable well known signature sounds, like some of the "keyboard hero" Rhodes patches, across all engines. We certainly don't want and need another FM bell tone, and hardly can profit from a simple layer we could do ourselves within two minutes. Korg can't be serious to ask money for this kind of stuff.

What we want are either
a) skillfully programmed well known signature sounds (not staying on such an extremely basic level as many of the electro package do) or
b) really inventive new sounds/soundscapes

Anything else is hardly worth paying the money from my view. Sorry, but this had to be said after the third library in a row staying far(!) below expectations.

Cello, you're strings are very cool; I wonder if you did any tweaking of any programs like "Hollywood Strings" to get them to sound more realistic. PM me if you have any suggestions:)

p.s. I haven't figured out how to paste two separte posts and respond to both if they are not already in a consecutive order.

Well said Jim. I like great sounds that I can use right now. It doesn't seem that advantageous to add 128 programs if just a handful are really useful and most of the rest of them are almost the same with minor tweaks...minor tweaking is something that we would probably be doing to adjust a program to fit a sequence anyway(For those of us who are not tweaking gurus).

Hmmm, IMO these should not even be called new libraries.
Just new tweaks not involving new samples/voices. They should have been all priced $19 to be fair.
Whilst not disputing the talented team behind these re-programing I feel they are overpriced from what I can hear on the demos.
I look foward to getting the austrian piano as the litle sample on youtube sounded great and will suit me very well.

$19 bucks or so would be a good price tag for an expansion pack of any kind.

I don't belong to the people asking for a lower price.
A good job deserves fair payment.

What I don't like are offers with missing overall substance and quality, but still offered at prices around 50$. I rather pay 250 bucks for a sampled Boesendorfer that works well, than 50 for mixed pickles engine programming, without a well recognizeable enhancement of the Kronos sound palette.

I don't even need great demos for new libraries: they just should demonstrate sounds which add substantially to what is already there in the K. If there isn't much to show, then why offer that library at that price at all??
