What does the ACCENT Buttons Exactly do and there Functions?
I was just wondering what the accent buttons does? I read up on it a little and tried playing around w/ it . Is it worth looking in too? What is it function really do, and how would you apply it too what your working on??

It changes the amplitude (volume) of the steps of the drum and synth parts.
Threre's a graph on page 24 of the EMX-1 owner's manual that shows how much volume is added / subtracted:

Hit the accent button, then place accents on keys 1,5,9,13 only. Press play then play around with the level knob, you will notice a difference. It adds a lot of dynamics to a pattern and can help make up for the lack of velocity sensitive pads. I tend to use the accent at about 2\3 volume (90's on the level parameter) and like to vary what steps are accented throughout the pattern. Just some thoughts

The accents are by default all ON. I would recommend putting turning them off, except for using them on specific steps as has been suggested. I thought the sound of my EMX-1 was much cleaner when accents were all off, as compared to all on.

That's why I said vary up when the accent hits, you can program the accent however you feel the pattern needs. It doesn't have to be the basic 4, that was just an example of how to listen to how the accent works.Boris55 wrote:Can u save a accent, or is it like a transpose? and 1,5,9,13, what would that do? Is it more for drums? Becouse that'a a 4 to 4 count, i do different drum programing, breatbreak and electro-BASS?
And yes, the accented pattern can be saved

Yes, and when you turn all the accents off, you also need to make sure to turn the accent level down to 0, otherwise you'll make all the parts sound quieter.Blankman8503 wrote:The accents are by default all ON. It works pretty much the same on the ES-1. I've recently moved from the ES1 to the ESX.
Although so far I've preferred to use them on the ES1 whereas on the ESX I'm not bothering so much. Perhaps I'm just after a more modern less dynamic sound.
