EMX Chord Oscilator and Arp Question

Post by phillwilson »

I notice that in the "Chord Oscilator" part of the manual it says to pick "major , Minor, Minr7th etc etc" and it will play multilple occilators as a chord............

I also know from the manal that it has the ability to play the arp slider in a scale .......

what I would like to know therefore is

If I pick the "Chord Osc" and specify "Major"

then pick "C - Major " for instance for the Arp slider......

when I reach a part using Chords ... C , G, ( A )............when it hits the A...does it go to A minor.....as it should if the "Scale" setting is being understood correctly......or does it stay on "Major" .which would make the chord osc all but useless for someone who plays live from a blank canvas without stopping to go back over data.

thanks

I'm not in front of the machine now... but as far as I understand how Mr. Chord works, it will generate a basic waveform, to which it will add sub-oscillators (just like the Additive synth). The difference between Additive and Chord is that Chord places the sub-oscillat ors at specific tuned frequencies (10:12:15 in the case of a minor chord).
So if it's set to Major, it will play major chords on every note that you hit.

ah...

considering the fairly ubiquitous use of both major and minor chords within almost every song in popular music thats a bit ....well.......s**t :)

unless you're Status Quo i guess ?

How about using motion sequence to arrange your chord progression?
