yeah, I'm usually too impatient to do it most of the time though haha. If I could load samples to my ES-1 thru the card, I'd just dump a whole bank full straight up, without pre-editing.
Although Im' thinking about eqing all my samples to one of say 5 or 6 preset eq shapes before they go in, since the eq is limited once they're in.
ES-1 Mk2.. Er.7 GRRRRRR!

I've been thinking about this recently. I might start adding reverb to my snares, hats, etc... in the audio editor and then export them to the 'tribe. Basically 'pre-bake' the effects.blitzdj86 wrote:yeah, I'm usually too impatient to do it most of the time though haha. I was thinking of organizing my sounds like this.
00.wav = dry bass drum
01.wav = treated fx drum
02.wav = dry snare
03.wav = snare with reverb on
...
50.wav = dry hi hat
51.wav = hi hat with reverb
52.wav = hi hat with 90bpm echo
53.wav = hi hat with 120bpm echo
etc...
You get the idea. Just so it will give me a lot of flexibility.
Yeah the ES-1 doesnt offer much in the way of good EQ, although their is the "isolator" effect which works pretty well for bringing out the mids and highs, but doesnt do much for boosting the low end.
Before i sample into the ES-1 I always run everything from the turntable directly through the Microkorg for processing, frequency changes, EQ etc...In the end it makes a big difference in the quality of the sound.

Computer adding little files
I just FINALLY figured out mine after a year of testing every possibility. Try writing your files onto the smartmedia using a different computer. My computer seemed to be adding little files that gave me the "er. 7" ALL THE TIME. Just tried it with my buddies computer and it seems to work.

Filenames must be uppercase
I was getting this error myself with my newly-acquired ES1mk2; I had downloaded the "factory samples etc." from the Korg UK site, which consisted of a file called "11.es1". This gave me an "Er.7" message until I realised it had to be called "1.ES1" (i.e. 1 to 9 and "ES1" not "es1").
The file system on the card is FAT12 which predates such innovations as lower-case letters in filenames.
Just another data point.
Cheers,

Smart card problems
I just got a ES1 and am having a similar problem ..
all mine are 16 bit 32k, named in double digets ect like the manual says to do.. BUT an unforeseen thing... some studio engineers have told me that the WAV has to be RAW can not contain ID# tags or anything of that nature... that is what I am dealing with.
I got all the samples off tha machine and onto my computer
I have tried to bounce samples out of pro tools and have set those sample formats to the same ones gotten off the machine.
I have dome Dre drum kits and Alchemist drum kits I got offline.. some of these samples take to the machine while others dont. Im trying to make my own samples though out of protools to put on the machine and this is a frustrating problem
*sigh* keep me posted!
