rrricky rrrecordo, I sense jealousy from you too. How can you call these are crappy mp3's. They are as real as it gets. I can see that there are a lot of defense for the Kronos. Obviously, you guys are both obsessed with only Korg keyboards and don't have a clue in the world what else is going on. LOL. Anyways I'm done with you guys. Trust me, if you guys heard these samples on a cd, you wouldn't even know the difference.

Hi All
I am new to this forum. My Kronos 88 is on it's way. I currrently own a Motif XS. Just wanted to share my experience with this topic. I use electric guitar sounds in live performance so I searched a while looking for something realistic. I tried the Axxe guitar voice bank for Motif. Some nice sounds in there and the demos are nice but it really doesn't work well or sound convincing in live performance. The only thing I have found so far that does is a VST called Real Strat running thru Guitar Rig 4 on my laptop. This sounds amazing and allows you to map a lot of the guitar articulations to various controllers. Takes months of practice to get the hang of it and make it sound right but the result is as good as you can get from a keyboard.
I don't know about the Kronos yet - I have high hopes for it but it is tough for a general use keyboard to compete with a program designed to just one thing.
Looking forward to seeing how the Kronos guitars sound..... Will report back.......

I think he meant that MP3's aren't lossless... Talk about a fanboy, JEESH. Get off your Motif soapbox.ddavilyx wrote:rrricky rrrecordo, I sense jealousy from you too. I've actually had some real success with the electric guitars on the M3. The sounds themselves aren't anything special, but the effects processors are absolutely incredible. I'd say the electric guitar sounds sound a lot more realistic than what's in the demos in that AXXE package. The only thing is, they tie up so many IFX's that you can't apply anything else to your other tracks.... but with the Kronos and it's 12 IFX's... that won't be an issue anymore. That's probably the thing i need the most from the Kronos.

I went back and read my post and to be honest, i cannot see why you
can have any cause to be upset..
did i insult you? no. i actually complimented your playing and stated its not your playing at fault
did i attack the motif?.. no, checkout my sig.. i have the same synth engine in the s70xs
are the sounds coming from a motif?.. not really..its a third party library so i dont know what your point is.
did i attempt to indicate why a guitar will not be accurately reproduced with a keyboard?. yes, twice.
did you listen. no,
as a guitarist i will tell you your mp3 simply sounds like what it is.. somebody doing a decent job of playing high quality third party guitar samples via a keyboard...

EvilDragon, I can only play some of those things live. I wasn't really talking about the ways of recording but just the sound of the nylon guitar. I actually used about 4 tracks to play this piece and a separate track for the fret noise. But some of those frets were done while recording. The intelligence of the motif recognizes chord changes and the fret noises come naturally.
Like I stated when I posted it... I didn't focus too much on the frets. Yes, you can say I cheated but that wasn't my point.
Oh yes, and I don't want to be seen on YouTube. Sorry.

You have an Axxe to grind.
One of many ways we differ
Thats just a very expressive sound, that can be used in many many compostitions...worth wrote:
That opinion should not be thrown out of hand or demonized unnecessarily . i heard one played in Jamal Hartwells demo and it was quite poor and i was quite taken a back. I would love to own a kronos for all kinds of reasons but if you listen to http://www.youtube.com/user/GospelMusic ... PVVu0rgRKY at 4.12 you will hear an example of what the OP was saying. I know Jamal is a keyboard player and he is playing this nylon string guitar ( i think) like a piano but it sounds poor compared to even the lowest PSR yamaha.
Most striking as how personall an opinion to that sound is, is the reaction of Jamals girlfriend/wife who says its a beautifull sound just a few secconds later...
Its a very lively sound... and i love it, who cares that it isn't a perfect match to your favourite Nylon string sound?
I have to agree, the acoustic guitars do suck on the Kronos as with a lot of other sounds in comparison to a Motif. But the Kronos is not designed to be all things this go round, but more of a great innovative idea in an entry level keyboard and a great piano and am/fm synth engines.
I went to look into buying the Kronos at GC, and the x/y joystick fell off before I got a chance to play the keyboard, I guess the vibration from the first player loosened it a bit until it just fell off, unacceptable quality. The shiny plastic end covers on the ends of the keyboard? Was Korg joking when they put that cheap milk carton quality scratchy plastic on a $3000 keyboard? We heard stories of the data wheel just coming off. The extra small fonts in the UI was the deal killer also aside from not having left/right cursor buttons like the up/down ones on the front panel on side of the UI screen. Considering Korg cheapened the build they at least could have made up for that by including better overall other bread & butter sounds instead of just Pianos and EPs.
