Car Alarms are the New Synth

Post by tpantano »

I meant to post this a while ago, but it seems that the artist Skrillex has used a CAR ALARM in one of his songs.

It may be a synth, but regardless of wether or not it's a sample, it's annoying as hell XD

Thoughts?

Ehh.....I'm tired of dubstep right now. I cannot stand it anymore. It's like a long brooding DnB breakdown that will not pick back up. I like the MK samples though.

+1 well put

the car alarm is not the bigger problem in that song

all sounds are equally ugly, and perfectly match each other in uglyness.

the ill-recorder snare nicely complements the TWO meager vocal gurgle samples

Listen, man: forget what I posted yesterday about producing song: if this is what you feed your ears with,

you'll never get around to mixing a song.

Ugliness feeds ugliness

don't worry ozy, even my 'bass player' brain can realize how utterly terrible this song is :P

I should say I still love "dubstyle" though.

That's more like it! That Pavelow track is pretty good, could go without the vocal samples though "I want more" "how are you" :?

Haven't fire alarms and emergency sirens been in techno since the 90s? I was in a Beijing club the other day and people were dancing to what sounded like a police siren, it was pretty hilarious.

Long sirens? Yes. Air horns? Yes. Car alarms? Apparently now.

I say "f*ck it", if you can make a sound into something better by adding it to a song go for it. A large part of electronic music is using any sound though.

I'm an industrial robotics programmer and I've always wanted to sample the sound of robot's servo motors at full tilt.. such an awesome sound RRRWEEEEEWWRRRR---WOR-WOR--RWEEEEEEEEEERRRR (my onomatopaeic attempts really dont do it any justice) :P ... sounds of industry = GREAT for sampling... the low rumble of massive transformers, servo motors screaming, pneumatics hissing, MIG welders crackling... maybe on the next site job i'll take my Zoom Q3 with and get some good samples 8)

Usually i have to explain my job to people.. but you're a smart bunch.. If you are curious as to what i'm going on about i'm sure you can find plenty videos on youtube just search for "industrial robotics"

and yes, that chemical brothers video (cant remember song title) where that factory worker is being chased by robots... I fully identify with what that guy is going thru hahaha

Cool job punpkomg.

There were some guys who made an album just out of cosmetic surgery sound samples (saws, drills...splatter?) which actually sounded pretty cool, despite the disturbing source material.
