monotribe=meh???

Post by jbl »

so will the monotribe be embraced or denied?

I don't have an electribe but I played on an EA-1 and absolutely loved it. I have always wanted but just never bought one. my buddy has a esx-1 anjd doesn't seem very impressed (then again he has the octa-track).

so yeah; love it or hate it? why?

looks cool but i dont really understand how it will work. the sequencer and "electribe" parts look strange i dont really understand it yet. if the price is low like the monotron or somewhere close then it may be ok. if its not then it will look/be an overpriced toy imo. you guys on the sp site were talking about how it didnt have midi.. so the in / ou/ sync plugs are for connecting several of the same devices i imagine?

i found this a few days ago and thought it was cool and they connect in a way i can imagine the monotribe will

I refused to get excited until I was sure it wasn't an april fool, but if it's as reasonably priced as the monotron i'm getting one

Agreed, anything under $200 and I'm in!

Agreed

If the price is right then it’ll definitely be a cool bit of kit to keep around.

Wont those ‘sync in–outs’ be for CV gating?

Sonic State says the official price is 237 Euros here in Germany (That is about 300 U.S.-$)!

That's much more than a monotron (4x)!
But street price will be cheaper I think...

If it's $300US, I'm out! I'd get a Mopho for that price, with MIDI so I could have a full keyboard.

I'll just continue running my monotron into my ESX and sequencing analog that way! It's not like the ribbon is any bigger on the new mono, I have large hands

Yes, but there's always a difference between the "retail price" and what you actually pay... e.g. the retail price of the Monotron is $90, but you can buy it at retail stores for $60.

^^^i was actually wondering if that worked just as well. an es-1 and a monotron could be had at 150 for the pair. would that be essentially the same thing if not better?

also, selling point alert, if you hooked m-tribe A into m-tribe B couldn't you run the drums through the second filter(and effect drum sounds more)? maybe they planned it that way

but yeah 300 dollars would be real money not toy money.

wow. 300 for that or a little more to sample mangle, or tweak synthesis a ton more. maybe 300 for a pair of them. the only way i would be interested is having two. it just makes more sense but for 600 bucks! there is a ton more powerful gear you could get. i have a hard time doing the math.

the monotron is 60 microkorg is 399 and emx 499

Depends if you're fussed about analog. I personally think that for Korg's 'caaracteristic' sound its not really worth it for the analogness alone.

However I would quite like one. be fun to sample and loop on my ES1.

It still is somewhat of an analog synth that is cheaper than a Dark Energy.
