Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…
I've really been itching to get a workstation, and as far as I've read, and heard, it seems like a steal for only $600!
In your guys' opinions, how is it?
Any pro's/con's (even the most smallest details) will be a great help
And a question: With the editor software, I am allowed to tweak any presets to my liking in detail, and save it into the microSTATION for use anywhere, without the connection of a laptop/desktop?
Of course you can do this, you can build new programs/combis from scratch and save them at user banks , or you can create whole new sets. after you create them you can store them in the SD card of MSta/on and load them when ever you wish without the need of pc/laptop. You will also have the whole default set of MS in order to do a restore to original. Many more features are there also you can build (arpeggiator patterns / song templates / e.t.c.) it is really good machine with huge sound set and capabilities.
2 gigs is the max size card you can use. I'm sure someone has tried a larger one, but 2g is what the manual says.
I've owened my microSTATION for about 2 weeks now and I love it. I shopped around and read tons of info before my purchase. The small keys are the only negative I had with it before I bought it. After using it these 2 weeks, I'm already used to them. The sound is outstanding to say the least. And pretty soon, I'm sure, we will have a microSTATION forum on here. I'll bet.
You can download the microStation editor right now and see what it can do. You won't be able to hear the result until you get the hardware, but it still shows all the screens.
All of the microStation's programs are in flash, internal flash memory. When you update a sound on the microStation from the computer, it's saved to internal flash. External flash cards can be used to read/write data when you don't have a computer around.
the keys are ok for slow chord progression. about a minute warm up, i was able to play cavatina piano (deer hunter).
this time i brought my own headphones. sounds are surprisingly good. although the choirs are not silky smooth as my korg m1/wavestation. but I notice the editing is way beyond the old AI/AI2.
i tested some brass, they sound GOOD ! I cannot fault this keyboard for the price.
what i love is, there's a cute official korg microstation bag for about $40, where I can carry like a backpack or hand carry. I can certainly ride my motorbike with this keyboard.
I'm thinking hard about it. but i would snap it in an instant if I have more band practise. bandmates have been busy with other things.

Yes, the brass is amazing
That's another good plus to it also, it's very compact!
I really love the synth pads too (let alone all of the presets it offers:D), it sounds very 80's-ish no?
