Recording from a Korg M3 wkstn into a Korg D16XD!

Post by vantripper »

I'm trying to figure out the best way to record up to 16 tracks from the M3 to D16XD. The below options are what I've come up with for possibilities. Keeping in mind that each track has effects built in already and may be in stereo makes the challenge!

M3 has 1 Left and 1 Right output
M3 has 4 individual outputs
M3 has 1 spdif 2 channel output

D16XD has up to 8 inputs
D16XD has 1 spdif 2 channel input

I want to keep the tracks as separate as possible so I can get easier control of volume etc. using scenes, but don't want to lose stereo effects etc.

One possibility I've been researching, but with no conclusive evidence, is sampling each track into a mono or stereo wav. file on the M3 and importing it to the recorder via USB or CD. I think I can do that on the recorder but not sure on the M3 synth?

Anybody deal with this before or want to take a stab at it, certainly would appreciate it!

Best regards in advance - thanks for taking your time and helping out a guy who finally has a chance to play with this! Laid off!!!
