Here is the sound I am getting out of it - I made this track just for KorgForums in about 40 mins. Unmastered so sorry if its a bit quiet.

Glad you confirmed the groundloop problem and fixed it. Groundloops are a pain in the arse. Even though you had to spend some money, if you ever have to use you keyboard at a gig with a PA system, having your own DI box will be good to bring along to hook safely into the breakout box or snake.sproyd wrote:Everybody, I have GREAT news.
Ok everyone i have TERRIBLE news (I wanted to swear but hey this is a public forum)
My microSTATION has stopped working. I am not kidding. It turns on, responds to all of the hardware controls like changing patch or mode but it does not output ANY audio. Not out of the 3.5mm headphone jack and definitely not out of the 1/4 inch output jacks. WTF? Is this some kind of sick coincedince that as soon as I fix the buzz problem the whole thing packs up?? Does this have anything to do with the DI Box?
Whaa?//????/?

Were you using the proper power supplies? There might be some relationship between the ground loop and the failure, but that's hard to determine. You would need to measure the voltage and current with an oscilloscope at various points versus a stable reference voltage. If the voltage supplied to the MicroStation was much too high, for example, it could explain the ground loop and the burning up of the output amplifiers, particularly if you turned up the output very high.sproyd wrote:Ok everyone i have TERRIBLE news (I wanted to swear but hey this is a public forum)

There seems to have been something strange going on. As I said previously, a direct box should not be necessary to hook a line output to a line input over a short distance. So the fact that the DI box stopped the ground loop was treating a symptom, but perhaps not the root cause.
