Kaossilator with ESX?

Post by groovyluv »

Would the yellow little Kaossilator work well with ESX-1?
As there is no BPM and midi sync, I dont want to buy smth that
wont work with ESX-1?
Is it already covered in ESX so no need for it?
It is small n looks appealing to me as a lightweight n simple instrument.

Kaossilator or mini K-PAd would work better with esx-1? in terms of
sync - bpm - etc...
(I know that one is FX processor and the other one is synth sound generator)

There is no way to hard sync the Kaossilator or miniKP with the ESX/EMX. Sync isn't relevant to FX (except perhaps digital delay timing).

If you want something that syncs to the ESX, get the Kaossilator Pro, which is a great match for it.

So u mean, those small KaossEs wont work well with ESX-1?

If I buy the PRO one, I ll have to pay more. Which leads me to another QUESTION : I cant decide btw Akai MPC and Koassilator PRO.

I am mainly singer and guitar player on stage.
I got ESX and Boss DR-groove as back up.
What can I add to my setup that wont be heavy n expensive?
HAnds-free is better so Digitech Jam man looper seems like a nice choice
so I am mainly lookin for SMTH that will complement well my ESX and guitar playin.

I think you need to decide what you want to DO

an MPC and KPro or completely different
do you want a sampler & sequencer that duplicates a lot of the ESX functions, but with more memory and longer sequences?
or do you want a synthesizer with an unconventional interface?

For a singer and guitarist, I would suggest a TC-Helicon VoiceLive Touch, instead. It will greatly enhance your vocals and guitar, plus it supports up to 30 seconds of stereo looping with undo and redo. You can plug the ESX into it too. It can use their footswitch for hands free, but it's also designed to be hung on a mic stand for easy access.

Tc-Helion looks interesting and high quality instrument.
But I am leaning More towards a Digitech Jam Man Stereo.
Anyone used it has any comments about it?

Also : Can I switch from one pattern to the next one (on my ESX)
with a footwitch? IF yes which one?
Behringer Midi FB1010?

I wanna be able to jump from verse to chorus with a footswitch.
(from pattern to pattern) I dont want pre-recorded songs where u stick to the song's preloaded traffic.

Well here's the thing...coming from a fellow guitarist myself I have to say that when it comes to developing an effective back up band for live use Kaossilator pro was the best solution. Electribes are cool; if you wishe to be a beat creating genius. But your focus is in Guitar and singing. The Kaossilator Pro allows you to create and loop your beats with ease. If you can tap your finger to a rhythm, say your guitar then you can tap out a unique beat. Here's the best part...as a drum machine, the sounds are amazing!!! This is the best drum machine I have ever used. When you need to loop one type of drum with another...it's as simple as hitting the loop button. I have a special mic stand plate to hold on my mic stand.

Now as a live looper. For me this Kaossilator pro replaced the boss RC loop stations. Gone! No more lugging that heavy sh!t. The best stereo looper boss had was the Giga delay but that's only like one bank and once I write over it...it's gone! So the Kaossilator was the best option for looping. Replaced 2 Giga Delays there. The only thing is I have have no problems finding time to use a hand to hit a button as oppose to a foot switch. But I did mod a PadKontrol to double as a foot switch if I ever needed to go that route.

So the best looper I have ever used (out side of an Ableton live set up) is my Kaossilator Pro.

Great Drum machine and a great live looper, you cant do any better for a singer song writer.

These other devices you speak of have a steep learning curve, take a lot to practice and serious dedication...not to mention the midi headaches that go along with the set up...BMP...midi clock...beat syncing...

So yeah IMOH the Kaossilator Pro, by it's self is the perfect solo Guitar Singer song writer solution.
