Sequencer and Pedals

So I have continued my studies on the Korg possibilities. Now that I have learned a lot about combis, IFX and stuff, (but still have a long road to go) its time to start with the sequencer.

As I see it, it allows you to sequence sounds right? Like from combis. So you can create a track where you change sounds instantly, without having to seek for them.

Now, here are my questions:

1) Is my concept about the sequencer correct?

2) Is a switch pedal a good choice to change sounds? What would be a good pedal to buy and how would you set it up, if any required?

3) How can I record with the sequencer? I have tried pushing those recording and play buttons, but still no luck. I do not know how to start the recording. This is mostly to record loops live.

And another question, not so related to the sequencer

4) What is your pedal set up? I only have a sustain pedal in the damper input so far.

Sequencing is the 'art' of arranging MIDI notes and events to create a piece of music.
Some people would more simply refer to it as 'recording' but strictly for clarity's sake 'recording' is more appropriate for recording the actual audio tracks of instruments, which you can't do on the M50.

Basically it allows you to record note events to different tracks with different instruments to build up a song.

You could technically use it for other things. For example I use Sequencer mode with RPPR patterns to trigger different patterns and change program numbers on my gear, etc. It is really a very flexible environment.

I currently just have a sustain pedal.

You can make the sequencer change sounds, using the right CC message in the right spot. For example, you configured it so at bar 8 it changes sound. Whenever you push "play", you have that time until bar 8 to play, then it changes. For solo playing is nice, for a band not much. Unless you all play with the same metronome.

The only thing is that you'll always have the same effect structure, so it's a matter of how detailed you want to be. If your sounds take advantage of the big IFX section, then the best way should be playing in Combi mode and switch the sounds using the value swith or a switch pedal (assigned to Program Up, Global mode)

Btw, how do you ercord? I push record but nothing happens.

When you push record it should enter 'record arm' mode, and you should hear the metronome. Hit play after that to start the sequencer (by default with a 2-bar count in) and actually begin recording.

You can select which track you're playing somewhere on the main (1st) page. The rest is just like building a combi.

Remeber to select the track you want to record (1-16) on the tab under the song's name. And choose "rec" in the play-rec-mute button on the screen
