Hi all
I hope someone is able to point me in the right direction here, I've had a look at the manual and its not that clear to me, so here goes.......
I am looking at the Microstation as a way of writing and producing demo songs away from the computer. This synth looks ideal but I just wanted to clarify something on the export of song data.
What I was hoping to do was to fully record and produce in the Microstation, then export tracks to a DAW for adding vocals, mastering, tweaks etc. Looking at the manual it appears that export is in midi format. Do I assume you can't export the audio tracks individually as say .wav files. Can you even export the whole track as an audio file or can you only do that by recording the output in realtime via an audio interface into the computer? That would probably be acceptable but ideally I would like the ability to adjust levels, pans, effects to individual tracks in the DAW.
As a more general question, has anyone had much experience in creating full songs on the Microstation? If so how did you find it in terms of speed and ease of use?
Forgive me if I've misunderstood something about the Microstation - any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Gary.

Ofcourse you can have individual tracks recorded in your PC. and then just use what ever daw to make anything additional on them.garyjdavies wrote:Hi all

You can have the song playback and by muting chanels you can control what to record. As for building a whole song is quite easy , but if you use the Editor with your PC, things are much easier when you want to assign effects / change pan / volumes e.t.c. Anyway i bought Microstation just for that reason , in order to have the basic stuff for a song without using my PC. (especially when I am away). Also you can do what ever you want and be more free by using the Editor as VST , this gives you total freedom how you work. (even then you must record the putput thougth.)
It is a little beast and I really enjoy the whole concept of microstation.

Thanks vangelis
I suppose you could record each track live into the DAW but that seems a bit long winded! I was hoping I could export all the tracks as audio files onto the SD card or via USB and pull them all into the DAW at the same time.
I understand what you say about using the editor on the PC - was wanting to keep away from the PC as much as possible though, as I spend most of my working day in front of one too!
Thanks again for the advice - glad you are enjoying your "little beast"!
Any other tips or advice welcome........!

Thnx , and i m glad that i can help.
Anyway the case of storing / exporting audio , there are things more than just generating the sound , I believe they avoid such stuff cause anyway there are great audio inerfaces which record in very high formats , and also you can post live other effects thru a mixing console e.t.c. , So Korg leave that to our choice. Think if they implelent full sound engine then all will start about Bits/ dithering / Hz.. and never stop. WE all are always in need for more.
Microstation has its limitations ,it was tho good for dragging me away from PC and i really enjoy that , so far.
