distorted sound output

Unit performed fine with OS2. When updated to OS3 it outputs distorted sound. All sets&samples of HD re-saved with new extension according to OS3 instructions. What now? Downgrade to OS2?

I'm assuming only your user Ram sounds are affected. (Your Rom sounds can't really be affected unless you have some sort of effect on by default).
For any user ram PCM sounds I seem to remember you needed to load them and re-save the set then open them from the new set. But you shoudn't be fiddling with any file extension letters - the keyboard should do all this automatically.
If no success I would suggest re-loading Operating system3.01.
(It really is better than 2 in many ways - better screen display, smarter polyphony allocation, more oscillators).
