Saving X-50 Patterns

Hey guys,

I have been mucking around with some stuff on my X-50. I've been going into the programmed stuff, and changing the tones and that sort of stuff, but I was wondering how I save the changes I make so I don't have to lose everything I tamper with?

If anyone could help, that would be awesome!

There should be a utility menu option in program or combi mode called 'write'. which 'writes' your changes to internal memory. There you have the option to save to a different slot, change the name, etc.

You can always restore the factory settings later from the Global menu if you feel you've messed something up.

Keep in mind a few things:
- edits made using the realtime control knobs will not affect the saved sound. That's why they're realtime control knobs - for performance.
- Combis don't contain programs, they only 'point' or 'reference' to them. So if you change a program number that is used in a combi, it will change in that combi too (for example say A45 is a bass, you change it to a piano. If any combi uses A45 as a bass it will now have a piano-bass!)

I was working on Combi stuff, so lucky you told me!
Also,do you know if there is a way I can make splits. (As in Synth on the bottom half of the keys and piano on top half)
Do I just read the manual?

Yeah, if you just open up the manual on the right page when your X50 is switched on then the sound will suddenly be split!

If you're working within combis it is okay. What I was talking about is if you are editing anything in Program mode, keep in mind that Combis will be using those Programs!

Combi mode is the place to be working with anything that involves more than one sound. You will find an edit page for 'KeyZ' where you set which range or 'zone' of keys each timbre can respond to. So you'll see this is much more flexible than a simple split. You can have overlapping and crossfading zones, etc.

A small trick too; if you have the edit field highlighted for a key number/letter entry, then if you hold down the 'enter' button and press the key you want on the keyboard, it will put that key in the field for you!
The same works when you have to enter velocity values for velocity switching. Hold down enter and press any key at the velocity you want.
