mexican/south american styles
Hi all
I am not an expert by no means on mexican or south americam music, but i felt most of these styles are lacking in substance. The styles may be a good representative for the genre, but i found most of them too basic and specifically in the drumming and percussive sections of each style.May be better drum amd percussion( samples) are needed to give these styles more punch and of a live feel. There are some good styles but this is certainly a subjective thing and this is just my personal opion.I do appreciate the efforts made and by Korg to give us these styles and hope for more styles from korg in the near future.

Absolutely stunning is all I can say about this set of Korg PA styles. And let me add that I am not into Latin music myself, but the way these styles have been programmed is absolutely a treat for any musician.
All of us have gigantic collections of styles, converted, home-baked,etc. etc. and 99 times out of a 100 I am left disappointed with whatever new style is thrown at me. After all the internal Korg styles are superb and if you know how to tweak them they go a long, long way. But this set is really a breath of fresh air and a very proficient breath of fresh air. I am surprised not more people have responded, but then I guess they will on the KOrg forums. Manuel and partner, I feel indebted to you. And I feel sorry for those who do not own a Korg keyboard and have to try and make do with conversions of these admirable styles. Ah well, the Korg PA-500 which I own is a budget entry model, so perhaps you may be tempted as yet !!!!
Thanks again for this great set of Latin Styles.......

Man, you must be living on another planet !! No disrespect mind you, but for starters it is great that these two Phoenix based musicians have spent so much time and effort to provide us with these, and like I mentioned in my earlier entry they compare very very favourably with the average free styles that you are offered anywhere. Heck, they even compare very very favourably with a lot of styles, in particular from the German market, for which you have to pay 5 to 10 dollars per style.
I do not know whether the programmers got paid by Korg, probably not, as Korg is not the paying kind, but they should have been really.
It is the only way to achieve professional new styles. Hopefully there will be others that follow suit. I for one would be happy to pay for this kind of quality even if Latin is not my first musical love...............

The most "Latin" categories in the arrangers, are oriented to the American-European concept of it, but it does NOT mean that is what the people that live in this countries listen, as an example, Bolero Ranchero, is one of the MOST popular romantic beats play by a Mariachi, and artist like Alejandro Fernandez, Vicente Fernandez, Luis MIguel, Rocio Durcal(Spain) and many other artist have recorded many albums with this music style, and that is the case with most of the styles on this set.
This Mexican-South-American set, is oriented to the REAL popular music that is played when you listen to the Radio, TV in countries like Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Nicaragua, Paraguay, etc.....this is what the people listen, dance in their social events.
TO some, this styles may sound simplistic, but the truth of the matter, is that until no other manufacturer has put the AUTENTIC flavor to this style genter.
And to enlighten those that do not know anything about REAL Mexican-South-American styles, may consider checking this list just typing in the You tube search:

Hi
John Smies you missed my point. First of all i did say i appreciate the efforts made on these styles and that i stated clearly that this was just my opion.I just believe that drum and percusion samples would help with these styles.I also stated that there are some good styles with this collection.Next time I will keep my opions to myself.

When we began making the styles for Korg, we requested that there are samples of some instruments that are a must, like the Banjo in a Blue grass style, we think that may happen for the next arranger series.
The sample of instruments like Vihuela, Guitarron, Bajo Sexto, Cuatro, Tresillo, and many others, besides some "special" percussion instruments.
So, we did have to make some substitutions or emulations with the instrument map, using some Fx, etc.
I may clear the air, most of this styles are "Folk", by no means are Rock, House or Techno, therefore, no loud drums.
This project went beyond any effort tried ever by any manufacturer, and of course, you need to know the culture and each of the music types and groups that play them, what instruments are used, even the tunings.
Example : How is played the Bajo Sexto, you only hear 2 notes instead of 3 notes when a Mayor chord is played, etc, and I am proud to say, this is the closest thing to the real Norteño band, check out artist/ icons on this gender in You Tube, just type:
Tigres del Norte, Ramon Ayala, Tucanes del Norte, etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V17_L7m1Iyc
this is a demo I made for OUR commercial styles web page, this styles are different than the ones we made for Korg, also are Mexican-South-American.
www.styles4arrangers.com
I already had people from several countries contacted me and they are please to have this styles.
This styles where not made for the American concept of "Latin"(Bossa, Beguin, Tango, SAmba, Chacha, Rhumba, etc), this is what the people in most of the American continent listen on the Radio, TV, I am talking about Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Colombia, Peru, CHile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, etc....also in the European continent, in Spain, many famous artist sing/perform this music types, like Julio Iglesias, Rocio Durcal, Rafael, etc.
The style names like Bolero Ranchero(VERY popular), real Cumbias in their different formats(like the different Foxtrot, Waltz types, etc). Valz Peruano, Merequetengue, Huapango, etc.
We where very careful to "respect" the orchestration of each of the musical groups we "emulated", and lately, there are some crossover on some band types, but, in most cases, we replicate what the real thing is.
And we did use a lot the feature Guitar Mode, is so cool.
