New Original Track with some M50

Post by Ajbbklyn »

Just put the finishing touches on this one a few days ago. The following portions of the track can be attributed to the M50:

1) Basic electric rhythm guitar sound (in tandem with real rhythm guitar)
2) Electric guitar power chord that repeats throughout song.
3) Electric bass sound, which is derived from a MIDI file I made of the bass player's performance. I wasn't happy with the sound I got from his amp (my fault). So, I created a MIDI file and imported his performance into the M50.
4) The synth arpeggio.

The lyrics might be a bit opaque due to the fact that the song is "rapped" in my native old Brooklyn dialect. So, it's not quite standard English.

listened to the tune, Andy. It was great. especially like the lead guitar noodling, although you were not responsible for that, oh yeah, and the arpeggio. Reminded me of that "88 lines about 44 women" song, or something like that.
Bass and keyboard player, not usually at the same time, but sometimes in the same song!
Boards: Kronos 2, and Hammond SK1
Basses: Fender, G&L

Thanks, hold. I listened to that song (by The Nails, 1982). I see what you mean.

The M50 was a central element in this recording, which was tracked and mixed in Ableton Live. The drums were "in-the-box" using Live Suite's session drums instrument. The M50 served as a MIDI controller.

The Korg sounds are most obvious in the opening verse before the layered guitars come in. But, you can hear them throughout. Great production tool.

Cant listen to it because it uses QuickTime and I don't have admin rights at my work computer.

Could you just upload the mp3?

Cheers,
