Or in Combi mode, select Timbre Params, OSC and set the track as poly. No need to change the program. You can even add portamento that way, if needed.CfNorENa wrote:The leads are monophonic for a reason, of course (emulating the classic monophonic lead synths of the vintage era), but it is indeed easy to change this setting. you can tell them it's got phasers and a decimator.dekturrr wrote:i like the joystick too.
most of the people in our church think of it as a sort of a video game controller.
then they proceed to ask whether the M50 has autopilot functions....
surprised only one person mentioned the programmable arpeggiators. That's one of the biggest gripes about the M3... a lot of people rely on it
Korg Kronos-61, Nautilus-61, 01/Wfd, SONAR Pro
like
- synth sounds (lead, pad, motion, fx)
- new piano (with respect to Trinity and Triton ones)
- some string (even i prefer the Trinity strings)
- efx
- touchscreen
- lightness
- drum tracks
dislike
- user interface for programming: overwhelming, the very same complexity could be managed better (take a look to V-synth user interface...)
- chord trigger (totally un-useful buttons)
- brass and other acoustic sound, simply ridicolous (and i deleted them to load more M3 synth and string sounds)
- sounds do not last when changing program
- combi uses pointers to program instead of duplicating parameters as in Virus
- sd card, i would prefer USB stick
- still no embedded mp3, wave player from USB
- too less knobs

did you load it from M3 expanded or from the M3 Producer's preset data?
because as far as i know, only 4 programs of the M3 Producer's preset data are not in the M50.
so practically all the presets in M3 are into the M50

The way I see it, you are wishing for an arranger kind of feature. I think that workstations differ from arrangers in the fact that the later are designed for live performance and fast changes on the fly, that's why they have features like splits or transpose buttons.newtonlkh wrote:to me it's not easy enough to set splits

Workstations, on the other hand, (at least KORG workstations) the basic performance environment is the combi, which is like a scene, with all sounds, splits, transposing, etc all set up from the start. If you need the same setup, but maybe change one of the sounds you simply copy the combi to the next slot and switch the combi up while performing.

The Alesis QS61, which is a synth, not a workstation, has a dedicated transpose button. But I agree that on the M50, transposing is just 2 button presses away, very simple.mocando wrote:The way I see it, you are wishing for an arranger kind of feature. I find the weight and size of the 61 key model to be a big plus. The keybed is good too, except maybe the black keys, that are a bit stiffer than the white ones (no racist/sexist puns intended). I definitely prefer fast synth action before GHA.
Sounds are good too, for the most part. I have trouble with the distortion on certain sounds when doing broad slides upwards. This seems to mainly be a problem on simple sounds like saw, square etc. Because there's only one sample, that gets stretched too thin? The same on the M3?
What I like less is the complexity of programming, despite the GUI. Especially AMS makes my head spin. It's darn flexible though, if you have the time and interest.
I would have liked all sounds to be polyphonic, even lead synth sounds. I know I can change it, but many of these sounds work perfectly polyphonically, so why this preset limitation? It's about useful sounds, not 100% emulation.
It should be possible to record sound digitally via USB. Even my cheapish guitar controller has this, and it wouldn't have added to the production cost.
