M50 Sequencer unable to store "Copy from Program"

Post by M-Over50 »

When I set up Sequencer channels I have spent too much time loading in the Program data for each instrument using "Copy from Program" in drop down menu.
When I close it up and reopen the settings are gone.
I have saved onto disk and as user Template Songs only to find that it doesn't save those settings.
Tried M50 USB stand alone Editor but seems to be no function that I can find for this.
Is there a work around for this?

What do you mean by 'saved onto disk'? There's no reason why the sequencer won't let you save SNG files on a memory card just because the program choices were made using 'copy from program'.

For example: Using 000-M50Grand on track one of Sequencer go to menu and use Copy from Program to load IFX, MFX etc. Saving the song and parameters onto memory card or saving as a a song template in Users does not save this action. I find I have to each time redo "copy from program" when I reload song with data or song template. Does this explanation make sense?

Are you using a midi file loaded in the sequencer or just recording as you play? If you use a midi file there might be some program change messages bugging you. There is a utility around ere to strip those program change messages from midi files.

No. I am setting up the sequencer for multi-channel use and using the keyboard as controller into a DAW (DP). The M50 only seems to behave as a multi-timbral device through the sequencer.
What happens is if I make MIDI channel 1 the M50 Grand I can go to the main menu (titled "Mixer T01-068") and copy the Program patch setup in "Copy from Program". So this makes the sequencer piano sound like the Program patch. The problem is saving which ever way does not save that "Copy From Program" so the piano no longer sounds like the Program patch.

Disconnect your M50 from your computer and try again.

It sounds like you're saving properly, and I guarantee that you can save properly after you've done a 'copy from program'. I'd bet that the file is saved correctly and that something in your sequencer, or even in the M50 editor, is sending program changes to the tracks that are resetting the songs.

Incidentally, why do you need to copy from program anyway? The *only* advantage it gives you is that it replaces the effects chain with th effects used in that program, which, if you use multiple programs, probably isn't what you want anyway. Why not just switch the program used on each track explicitly?
