How to connect the korg m50 to logic

Post by shookykookyman »

Hi,
I was wondering how to connect the keyboard to Logic Pro 9, through MIDI, so that I am able to play the keyboard's sounds through Logic. Please include all steps that must be taken, including all settings.

Thanks in advance. :)

Step 1: use the search button on the forums to find other places where this has been discussed already.

1- get original Logic sw
2 - install original Logic SW on your favorite pc and verify it works correctly
3- put m50 enough close to your pc

Version A:
4a - install m50 USB-MIDI driver on your pc: you can connet m50 using USB cable streaming MIDI over USB
5a - connect M50 and your pc using USB cable
6a - Open Logic and select the M50 USB as you MIDI IN/OUT for the midi tracks
7a - select on which midi channel m50 wil respond (see manual)
8a - load a midi track on Logic
9a - press play on Logic
10a - ops... connect M50 audio out to headphones or monitors

VERSION B
4b - get a MIDI OUT interface on your pc (typically a MIDI/USB interface is used nowadays, old implementation uses a MIDI interface on joystick port)
5b - connect M50 MIDI IN to your pc MIDI OUT using a MIDI cable
6b as VERSION A
