It's not worth the trouble to run the EMX on batteries, because the battery and inverter needed to handle the runtime will be less portable than the EMX. If you've got a 60lb 12V Deep Cycle Marine Gel Cell and a 500W+ inverter, you can be "portable" but I wouldn't want to lug that around. Compare this to the iElectribe that gives a good slice of Tribe capability with long runtime on a lightweight battery. To reduce the power budget of something with a tube drive circuit requires some serious circuit bending.

I once found this: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 002#237002

On the Yahoo group mentioned there is a PDF file with instructions for the ES-1.

The ES-1 doesn't have a tube circuit. It's a completely different problem to try to run the EMX and ESX on batteries because of the tube power requirements. Therefore, the ES-1 and older electribe mods are irrelevant to this thread because they won't work on the X models, which was mentioned in the threads you linked.

I don't know if it works with ESX and EMX but check this out. It may help you!

No, that won't work for the EMX or ESX. The ER-1 runs on 9V DC and consumes 5.5 watts. The EMX & ESX run on 9V AC and consume 24W, because of the tubes. The implications of these differences mean that a small, lightweight DC battery pack won't work.

I use a UPS for a computer. Works great. I run an AMP off it too. Last about on hour.

The "new" EMX-SD and ESX-SD are now DC, so those should be much easier to run off a battery.
Back in my day, we didn't have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we'd have to just shove them together.
