I believe that's a feature and is called FX Release. You'll have to look in the manual for how to disable it though. However, for most effects and uses, I'd think you'll probably realise you'd prefer it on.

You can set the amount of FX Release by holding the shift button and moving the slider. If you hold shift and move the slider to the bottom, FX Release is disabled.

hmm I can't disable it or change it no matter what combination of shift and slider I use. The only thing I can do is change the delay time depending on its bpm. I dont have a manual, so apologies in advance if I'm missing something basic, like a certain mode I have to be in etc

Thanks!

Some effects are not affected by the FX Release slider.

You can get the manual from the Korg website.

Hey, I even found it for you:

I have a similar question to what was already asked. I'm playing around with the 10 synths on the KP3. All 10 synths have a delay FX (or is it an echo). Is that the default and I'm stuck with it.
Based on what I read on Page 11, under FX release, the delay whether I want it or not, will never go away. Is that correct? Is there not a way to turn it off OR switch it to a different FX, such as a filter.

I've read the manual several times now and can't find a satisfactory answer.

Thanks!

You're right. it won't go away. The delay is integrated in the synth sounds, as it is in the delays effects (in delay effects you cannot suppress the release delay).
there is no way to change the effect used for release, it is a delay and nothing else.
Anyway, it is sometimes interesting to set it to infinite (shift+slider to the top) and to control it with the effects level knob

I wonder what possessed them to do that? Oh well, thanks.

Probably so you would (have to) buy other Korg stuff.

The FX Depth knob controls the "amount" of delay for the delay FX, does it not?

Yes. It just acts as a volume for the synth patches though.
