M3 presets available for M50?
I did try a search to see if this has been addressed before, but I think I was too broad, as I got over 2000 hits. Anyway, I am 95% decided on buying a M50-73 next month, but am curious about whether or not the M3 presets are available for the M50. As the M3 has 1024 presets now, to the M50's 600+, with the same structure, it would seem possible to load M3 presets to the user bank, if the data were available. That way it would be possible to load a bunch of M3 favorites to the M50. Any chance?
you didn't even have to search. Just read the posts on the first page. It's been asked quite a few times (and is like 10 posts below yours).
For example:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=44123
And I just went a couple pages and looked for the words M3 and found about 10 posts in about 10 minutes.
Try harder...

Are you talking about program/combis or filter presets?
I don't know exactly how many filter preset slots each model have, but I assume they are the same, since either the M50 or the M3 have 5 insert effects, 2 master and 1 total, so the presets should work all the same.
As for the programs/combis they are exchangeable.

Now I got ithutchpilot wrote:I did read that thread, but it doesn't answer the question. I know that, with the same samples and voice structure, the M50 can do M3 sounds (programs/combis). The question is, if you only have an M50, where can you can the program/combi data from the M3 to load, if at all? Thanks.

If you go here: http://www.korg.co.uk/products/workstat ... nloads.asp
There is a PRODUCER.PCG file which contains all the preset data, but in different order. Since what you want is to upload just a few patches, then it should work for you. Although, I think you can find the original PRELOAD.PCG out there, like I found the one for my M50.

Hear that Jerry/Rich??? I want 5% of the sale commission for that M50-73 JAJAJAJJAJAhutchpilot wrote:Thank you for your reply. That is what I was looking for, and your answer also allowed me to find the same file on the Korg U.S. web site. This makes the M50 an even better value, and even more tempting. Major GAS!

O.K., forgive my ignorance... I'm still a little baffled by Korg's programming... it looks like the "Supercharged" soundset from the korg.co.uk site FOR THE M50 is what I'm really after, because of:
Synths
• Simple and easy-to-use analog synth sounds.
• Vintage solo/lead synth sounds covering the “must-have” sounds from the 70’s and 80’s.

What do you want? Do you have the M50 already ? Have you explored even for a few secs the preloaded sounds? Leads, fast synth, categories, etc. Or you are just imaging how it is like ?AJP wrote:O.K., forgive my ignorance... Where is that Supercharged soundset you talk about ?
You understand that getting a Workstation means having to get your hands dirty in sound programming and dealing with synth lingo, do you ? The M50 is not (and is not meant to be) an easy-to-use plug-and-play device. There are many presets, and they sound great, but if you want to get the synth sounds from the 70's and 80's or something more complex, you'll have to dig deeper.
Keep asking, and eventually you'll find what you are looking for.

Yes, I own the M50 already, and have explored all of the factory sounds extensively, and tweaked some of them. The "Supercharge" set is on the UK M3 page. And yes, I understand that using a workstation can mean some programming. I just have a lot more experience/understanding in the Yamaha and Roland worlds. Hopefully I will add to that over time. But basically what I'm looking for is pro 3rd party M50 sound programming for specific applications. I'm not looking for freebees. If someone is putting time into skilled programming and selling it, I'm happy to pay for it; I don't have nearly enough programming time as I'd like to.mocando wrote:What do you want? No need to, until you explore all the available patches around the web. Check the download section here in korgforums, and almost every M3 patch not having samples should work, unless it uses a specific sample from the Expanded set.
Very interesting the Supercharge set. Although, I think it won't work, since is part of the OS upgrade for the M3. I'm downloading it and let you know if it can be used.
BTW, get yourself into korgfans.ning.com, since we are building the download section up and you might find some useful patches there.

Well it works!!! Download the Supercharge set, unzip and copy the PRODUCER.PCG file to an SD and load it to the M50. You won't be able to load sounds to the User banks, since the M50 doesn't have any, but you'll be able to save the sounds that you like in any bank A thru E. Go to Media mode and OPEN the PCG, don't Load or you'll loose all your custom sounds. Then you can browse and drive test the sounds before loading them to your M50.
You will find pretty interesting things inside, I'm sure.
