Just to clarify: You mean that the mp3 player and KP3 go out of sync with one another, or that two of the KP3's sample banks do?

i think both situations you(and me) discribed happened...

is it possible two samples which come from the same source(mp3 ) to go off sync?

I think what happens here is that it goes out of sync with the mp3-player, which is completely normal because when you sample something it is almost never a perfect loop (tempo is not exactly the same, loop is a little off, clocks drift etc.) and there's no external sync from the mp3-player to keep it in sync.

If the KP3 goes internally out of sync between two loops, it's a different story, it should not do that (or there are these loop modes in the latest KP3 update that have something to do with that, I would check that. I don't own the device myself.)

If we lived in a perfect world, everything would stay in sync, but the world is not perfect, unfortunately :D. For example is you sample something that's only 5 ms too short, then after looping a 100 times it will be off by half a second. And you certainly start noticing it a lot sooner than that.

So yeah, life sucks and then you go out of sync... :D

i am not talking about ms....but an easy to understand problem.....

if this is what happens ...then the looper is all useless...

whata bout the loop modes which are in the latest update(2.0).....?
i ve done the update.

I think you should contact Korg Technical support in your local region and ask to speak with a product manager. If it is a BUG and confirmed by Korg then Korg should issue a new Firmware update.

i think this is another topic where there is the same issue...

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=51701

that means kp3 is waste of money....

there is no way to use it as a programmed looper....

I thought it was a known issue that the KP3 can keep time with itself but drifts out of time with external gear when playing back samples.

what dou you mean by..

"can keep time with itself but drifts out of time with external gear when playing back samples..."

the use of it ,is to load external samples ...it s not synth type to create loops and play them by itself....

is this happens when you also load loops from kaossilator 01 or kaoss pro???

it tried kaossilator01 and i think has the same issue...

if this is true..then the 4 sample banks are a joke...there is no meaning to save sth and try to play them all live....

this is a serious issue......

The way I understood it, you could sample a source, and it would eventually go out of time with what you sampled from. But why would you want that source to still be running at the same time as your sample?

For example sampling a loop from an MP3 player - it would go out of time with the MP3 player, but all of the loops inside the KP3 should keep in time with eachother.

no they dont.....
the first sample -witch is my guidance- is from the mp 3 but i ve already recorded it in bank A...so its now part f the KP3 memory...after the editing in and save in bank B...the 2 samples are off ,after a while...
the mp3 is just an example....
the issue is between 2 or more already saves samples(created by the same source of course)

i found also this..

http://news.thecasualdistractions.com/2 ... g-kp3.html

"The KP3 isn't perfect. For one thing, it's timing isn't great. It's common for its loops to go out of sync with each other even when they're recorded at the same tempo. Hitting Align (Shift + Tap) mitigates this. You can also nudge a sample in time by hitting Shift+A (if it's on track A, for instance) and using the BPM knob to move its start point. The sync problems are worse if you're syncing the KP3 to an external clock. For instance, I had problems using an ER-1 as a clock master. That was surprising given they were both Korg boxes. After 5 minutes, the KP3 was noticeably ahead of the ER-1, skewed enough to kill the groove. After 15 minutes, it was a full 16th note ahead.

The best workaround, by far, is to upgrade your KP3 operating system to version 2.0 (download it from korg.com) and to set the KP3 to Loop Type 3 (read the documentation included in the OS upgrade). The default behavior is Loop Type 1, in which all four samples play constantly, remaining in rigid lockstep with each other, and pressing the A, B, C, and D keys simply mutes or unmutes them. This is bad since, while they remain in sync with each other, they drift with respect to the external clock. Loop Type 3 is different in that the samples begin playing when activated, starting from the point of activation. For instance, hitting the button repeatedly causes a stuttering effect, playing the first part of the sample each time. This obviously can throw the four loops out of sync with each other, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I prefer having total control. Sync depends on my ability to hit the button at the right moment. This isn't a perfect fix since loops left on for too long will gradually drift, but it is the difference between the KP3 being useful and being a doorstop.
