hmmm, I totally forgot about that, but still I have a feeling even that would be a little bit small for my need. The weight and portability is perfect for Live Performance though.PraiseTheLord wrote:Actually the 10 inch measurement is the diagonal isn't it? The diagonal measurement on a letter size paper is nearly 14". The diagonal on a MusicPad is over 12".
Like Apple, they have the screen size wrong for this product!
DX Kindle by amazon for live performance?

The catch with the iPad will be the same as with the iPhone and iTouch. You cannot run anything on it other than what you find in the App Store, and you can pretty much forget about attaching any external devices to it.Ok, if you settle for a 10" display, then why choose that and not iPAD?
Where with a Win7 Tablet you can run whatever you want, and you can even make use of the USB ports to power things like the Berhinger multi foot pedals. They could be assigned to flipping pages back and forward as well as going to the next song or calling up a menu.
Not the mention making use of SysEx. For example, if you call up a song on the Tablet, it could transmit a command to your Pa2X that makes it go to the right performance.

Sharp.

Then iPad is out of the question. I gotta come to a conclusion with this sometimes this year, because handing the charts is really effecting my gigs now. Ideally, I'd like to have a decent size (not too big, not too small) display (with At least 2 USB ports) that could show two pages in portrait mode. If lightweighted,I could probably secure it on my keyboard stand as well. I won't use it to run CPU hungry softwares, or anything like that. The main idea is to display charts, and possibly play backtracks... That's all I'll be using it for.
The keyboard stand that I use right now is the older version of this, but it looks pretty much the same:

If I can secure a display on the upper arms, then I can compromise on the size of the display. At this point, i'm not buying anything , until i know for sure those components are going to work. If you guys came across a portable set up , please let me know.

Hi Sam,
If your requirement is urgent then in my opinion the only feasible touch screen solution right now is this:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/hp-u ... h-monitor/
You would connect it to any laptop running Windows 7. The touch screen interface requires a USB2 link.
I'm waiting for the next generation Windows 7 touchscreen notebooks with a 17 inch display. They will be on the market later in 2010.
In the mean time I am using a conventional 17 inch laptop, my Music Reader software is in 2-page up display, and I turn the pages using a footswitch (sold by Music Reader) with USB interface.
Best regards,
Rob

i'm telling you man..This is gonna be too small even for one page display. Last week, i went to a lot of computer stores, and realized how cheap and light most laptops have become. I saw a lot of 17" light-weighted laptops that can potentialloy be used for this purpose. I wish this touch pad wasn't that small. When i looked at a 10" laptop or even little bigger, I was like, no, this is totally useless for live performance. The ones that I'm interested in are between the pricerange of $350-550.Sharp wrote:Just found a new and more detailed review of the Hanvon TouchPad BC10C

I still haven't found a portable Keyboard stand that could handle 2 keyboards and secure a laptop.
Yes you could be right there.i'm telling you man..This is gonna be too small even for one page display
It might be too small for sheet music, but for my needs it should be big enough. I'm only after something to display lyrics that can be interfaced with my keyboard.
There is also the option of being able to connect a monitor to it, so that might be something worth exploring.
The tablet could be setup to display song names and have navigation buttons, while the external display just shows the sheet music. Just thinking out loud here.
I'm lucky enough that I have one of the original Apex Stands which were great for modifying. I have made a tablet / music stand that locks into one of the Apex tracks.I still haven't found a portable Keyboard stand that could handle 2 keyboards and secure a laptop.

James

That's why I think I should just go for a new laptop. one screen, one keyboard, one power chord..etc Until i come across something better.Sharp wrote: There is also the option of being able to connect a monitor to it, so that might be something worth exploring.
I would love to see a pic of your keyboard stand, if you have one . I also have the older version of Apex, called ultimate or something, but i'm not sure, that's what you're talking about

I have been following everyone's comments and great evaluations on display systems for gigs and really need to pick one. It seems to me that after all goods and bads are weighed, the Music Pad Pro seems to meet more needs, but for the cost and difficulty/time required to load in all of your sheets and charts. Is this about it, particularly if you do not want to have to deal with a separate laptop and display book, and need a larger screen?? Also, is the Music Pad Pro manufacturer really about to go under, or is it Freehand Music or just who is in trouble??

OK - So maybe not. Any suggestions on a tablet or notebook with rotating screen (to lay flat on music stand) that is in the 13 " to 17" range, Windows 7, 64 bit and good battery life, etc. ?? I have not seen a suggestion that really has all of this. And again, the stated reasons why Apple will not due are still not too clear to me.
