Okay, so can someone help me do this?
My M-Audio fast track pro didn't come with a manual but I have my korg R3 hooked up to the front of the interface with a stereo cable hooked up to the R output on the synth. Now, the interface is hooked up to the computer and I'm running ableton 6. Can somebody give me step by step directions on how to record what I play on my synth into ableton live to loop it or edit it or whatever?

You need to hook up the L output. Also, when u mix ur fast track to the left, do you hear the R3 come out of your speakers? Just to make sure it works.danumal wrote:Okay, so can someone help me do this?

Now, If that works, I don't no the specifics of ableton, but I do know DAWs generically. You'll need to make a new track, set the track record to on, and when you're ready press master record.

Did you get this sorted dude?
To record into Ableton, first of all go to your preferences, (ctrl + ,) if your on PC. Then make sure your audio inputs and outputs are set to the Fast track.
Next, create a new track, (ctrl + T) if your on PC, then make sure the I/O switch is selected and on the audio channel it will have a section that says "audio from, audio to" etc.
Set the "Audio from" to the L and R input of the Fast track (if your using stereo from the R3) and set the "Audio To" to Master.
Then plugin in your R3 into the Fast track. R3 L+R out to Fast Track 1+2 in, again this is if your using stereo, if not then just the L output of the R3 to input 1 on the Fast Track.
Turn up the R3 volume half way then Record enable the track being used in Ableton. Set the "monitor" section in Ableton to "In" if you need to hear it (or "Auto" depending on your personal preference) and play some notes.
You should now be getting a signal into Ableton. If you need to record then arm on the Master "Record" button on the transport and your good to go!
If your listening back through headphones there may be some latency, but if you dont need to Record along with the metronome in Ableton and just want to record ideas etc, then you could just plug headphones into the R3. Another way is to set the montitor section of the track to "off", let the metronome play through speakers, and listen to your R3 playing via the headphone out of the R3.
If you need any help with Ableton or help with setting up midi connections between the R3 and Ableton, just let me know
