Trying to create multisample for the first time

Post by goldberg96 »

Hi all. I have had my Triton Studio for a long time but I am only now trying for the first time to sample something from my old T2 into the Triton. I have read the classic thread on creating the perfect multisample and I have set everything up (I think) but I am not getting anything. I need help. It's really important to a project I have to get done in the next couple of days. I have the T2 outputs connected to the Triton's input. I followed the classic thread and set the parameters as specified.

But how do I trigger the recording. For one thing when I press the notes on the T2 I don't hear anything. And I don't see the recording meter on the Triton moving. In spite of that I walked through all the samples and built a program but no sound so I don't think the recording process worked.

Can someone please walk me through how to ensure that the samples are actually getting recorded. I press note for a second or two and then hit create. The Triton is walking me through all the samples but I'm not ending up with anything. How do I get the recording meters to register something and the Triton to actually record the notes?

I'm desparate. Please help me............. Rob

No one can help me? Come on all. I know there are experts out there. I did this once a few years back but seem to be missing something in my process. Please can I get some help?

This is just a guess but if you are not hearing anything it sounds like you haven't turned on (or selected a bus to use).

I have a bus selected. I can hear the sounds when I play the keyboard while doing the sampling. But after I am through and create the program from the sample then I don't hear anything. Also, while trying to collect the samples, the recording meters are not registering anything.

Hey goldberg96,
I read your post on sampling I have a Triton Studio myself and I've done some samples from my Korg 01w/r wich is the rackmount version of the Korg 01/w they sound pretty identical from the original if your trying to sample the T2 it's possible depending the waveform Let me know how I can contact you directly to explain a little bit more in detail.

I am still having trouble with this. It seems no matter what I set the trigger to be I don't do any sampling unless I get involved with the sampling rec and start buttons. But the instructions don't say you need them. I can hear the sounds when I play them. The bus is selected correctly. Its the actual recording that I'm having trouble with. I set the trigger to NOTE ON, I set all the other parameters as instructed. I don't see anything on the recording meters unless I press the sampling REC button but then the CREATE button gets greyed out. So obviously I am missing something here. I tried doing it by setting the trigger to NOTE ON and then pressing the sampling REC button and then the START button, hitting the note, and then pressing the START button again to turn it off and then pressing the CREATE button and then going through that whole process again for each sample taken. That kind of worked but its not how I thought it was suppose to work. So more help is needed.

Are you connected to the T2 by MIDI?

Note-On means that it should start sampling when it recieves a Note-On message, I think. If you're not connected by MIDI, its never going to start because its waiting for a MIDI Note On message.

I also think there should be an option to start sampling at a certain input threshold?

Make sure the switch is set to line and the the main recording knob on the back is set to an audible level. then There are two buses that you have to change or three if you are recording stereo. you have to select inputs that you are trying to record on the individual input bus(es). and then the main turn on that is above or right by the trigger selection. once those two things match and you press sample record you will see ur meters move. Once you hit play hit will start recording according to what triggger you selected.
