I recently wrote to Hal Leonard publishing requesting that they bring their music books up to date re the registrations recommended as per organ playing.
My earlier musical exposure was via lessons on a home theater organ, and the books the teacher used were from publishers for Gem and Kimbal, which provided a basic organ registration to guide the novice player.
What I requested was that they provide a 'style' registration, not based on a specific 'board, but based on general arranger and electronic keyboards. They claim that they have books dedicated to electronic keyboards, but they are as out of date as can be, some have the original registrations from 30 years ago!
I asked for a rhythm style, eg, country ballad, the tempo, eg 120 bpm, the suggested voices, eg, banjo and nylon guitar.
Does anyone know of a music publisher that provides such information?, does anyone else need that kind of thing from their music?, or am I alone?
comments please.

Music books for arrangers
I was wondering on any success you might have had. I haven't found an applications book for arrangers, which give the user the data utilized for building certain styles or performances. I have a Korg PA 50.
I don't know that I'd rely on any book to tell me what sort of instruments, tempos, bpm's, styles, etc. I should use for certain songs. In the world of arrangers, it's open season on everything. Such is the flexibility of arrangers that you can do any song you want in any way you fancy. Just listening to a song you'd like to play should give you the aural framework to go with and if you want to play, say, the Eagles' Lyin' Eyes as a reggae tune, it can be done. If you don't care for one or all of the sounds, change them at will. So set your board up and go for it. A little creativity in this game goes a long way. Happy comping!
