D888 with Mac

Post by sparky045 »

Help! I have my D888 connect to my Mac (10.8). I installed the driver and it shows in Finder, but i can't see the D888 drive. Any ideas or experience with this?? I contacted Mac support, all seems to be ok on the computer end.

Some people have had problems because of bad quality USB cords. Try another one.

I contacted MAC support and they had me to look via "Finder" to locate D888 drivers(?). I think what I actually loaded on the MAC was midi-related software I located on-line, thinking this contained drivers. After more research and reading, I realize the computer should find the D888 drive without doing anything to the computer (?). I tried this with both my Mac and PC (Windows 7) and neither machine can find the D888. However, the D888 goes into the "USB Mode" when the USB cable is plugged in. Can't do anything from there. I also tried replacing the USB cable to be sure.
Any ideas?? Sound like the D888 needs to go in for service??
Thx!

Well, I have the same issue. I plug in (like I used to), the D888 goes to USB mode, but my mac does not recognize it (i.e. I do not see the D888 as an external HD). Looking though I found that when I look at the the hardware on the computer the USB port recognizes a Cypress AT2LP RC42 but I cannot access it. Short of taking the unit in, is there anything that can be done? Looking at some of the PC posts it looks as though there may be a chip that may burn out or something that does not allow the two computers to communicate. I'm not sure, if anyone can help out with this that would be great.

I had a similar problem on my Windows XP workstation. I got it working again using the guide on this page: http://daltrey.org/linux/cypress.html (which I found from a forum here: http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/sho ... genumber=1 )

If you can access a Windows XP machine you should be able to follow the guide linked to above to get the D888 working again and then you can plug the D888 into your Mac.
