KSC Generator - (Oasys Assault edition)

Post by Sharp »

Program Selection & Audio Demo Screen Shot.
You can use the Media Player to listen to each program, and you tick the boxes for each sound you want to send to your custom library.
Image

MultiSample Screen Shot.
Everything on this page is read only, you do not tick any boxes. The application ticks the required boxes itself based on the selection of program sounds you choose.

Once you have selected all the program sounds you want in your custom library, you hit the write button and the software generates the KSC file that is compatible with the PCG file.

Sharp,

I almost don't want to ask this question in case the answer is 'no' - but -

are you per chance pointing to an upcoming possibility of selecting, in advance and from your PC, what subset of Assault can be selected, built into a sub-library and then loaded into OASYS?

If so, this will revolutionise your Assault library and I'd absolutely pay for this upgrade.

I really like your Assault library a hell of a lot but as I use lots of other samples always have to flip back and forth between libraries. Such a utility as I think you are proposing would make using the OASYS an absolute dream (and I would definitely buy future libraries from you given this amazing flexibility).

If this isn't what you are proposing; let me state it hear to anyone reading this that as it stands OASYS Assault is a wonderful library and definitely worth acquiring (no vested interest in saying that, it's just that good - think 'Spectrasonic Omnisphere' and you're in the right ball-park).

cheers,
Kevin.

Yes indeed ..!!! :-)

Well it will certainly be a first that's for sure. It keeps track of everything needed to be loaded to memory so it won't ever load the same sample twice. If every library had that function you could easily create one mega set that would sit in memory fully optimised.

Thanks for the feedback on OASYS ASSAULT. Means a lot to me.

I'm not sure I understood that correctly: can this be used for ALL libraries (like Karo's too)? Will there be a Mac-Version? Are you going to sell this?

Initially OASYS ASSAULT only. But using a different approach I could make it a universal application that would support all libraries as well as allowing you to add your own personal files to it.
Will there be a Mac-Version?
Sorry, PC only.
Are you going to sell this?
For OASYS ASSAULT users it will be something very small as this is a first for any library to be able to do this. If there's enough interest I'll write a universal edition and sell that, but a universal edition would require a much different approach.

This is very cool indeed 8)

A universal version would be a dream come true for most Oasyans. What's the point with loading huge libraries if one for the most part are going to use about 30-40 % of it. After all, I magine that being able to organize all your PCG's and multisamples to match your exact need is a goal for everyone.

I would buy a universal editor anytime if it was available for the Oasys. If enough people would pre-order this, maybe Sharp would consider making one.

One small question, the CSL Generator would also work with other Korg keyboards like the Triton series or M3? (same pcg/ksc approach)

If you need some 'pre-order' count on me. I prefer the Universal Edition but is ok also for the OA.

Hi all.
Err.... this is kind of after getting far more complicated than I ever imagined. I ran into a few problems which required me to change my approach and write far more code than I would have thought needed.

Because of the extra work I've had to do, I've included some of that as an additional feature of sorts. So in addition to everything you see above, you will also have a third screen that shows you the true 8.3 names of the KMP files that will be written into the KSC, and it will also have a long display showing the actual contents of the KSC after it has been written.

So..... maybe a full day or two of programming left and I will be able to release it.

Regards
Sharp.
