It comes up as a removable disk when you connect it to your PC's usb port so it's just drag and drop to send files to it.
Please port the Oasys manual onto it and take a few pics, I'm very interested in the quality of it and if its readable without scrolling!
(If its not too much trouble)

I disagree ;-)
Companies that deliberately make it all about the products AND the company are those doing well. There are plenty of companies getting my repeat business not just 'cos of that one product or transaction but the overall customer experience. Amazon, Apple, Sweetwater, Nikon, Toontrack, Audi, B&H, Waves ... just to name a few random ones.

Son, where did you come up with that idea? Since when was it NOT about the consumer? If it is all about the products and not about the consumer then who do you think is going to BUY the products? The company??? Duh! It HAS to be about the consumer... what WE want...not what the company decides we are going to get stuck with! And it's not even a question whether or not it's about the company. The company needs US, WE don't need THEM!

This is why SO many Oasys buyers are b!+ching...because the COMPANY forGOT about the CONSUMER and thought that the PRODUCT was good enough. The product is dead in the water without the consumer. In the case of Oasys: Korg was able to walk away from the Oasys when they did because it was already so cool (to a point) and it still reigns as heavyweight champ (by a smaller margin than even a year ago) even though it didn't fully deliver on what was insinuated it would deliver.

**Huff**

Great work! Thanks very much, yes I can see how that reader is beneficial, it can keep all sorts of manuals in there, all household appliances, books, manuals e.t.c and the menu looks like it has some nice details too.
Thanks very much.

And never forget what Korg did with the Oasys and also the prommises they never lived up too. The Fx Update for one.....

I have left Korg and will never have a new Korg related product in my studio.

That said, Oasys is realy great, the seq. is the worst ever but it is the best of it´s kind. :D Karma rules 8)

My my, aren't we all a little tetchy......

Hey look I understand the consumer makes or breaks a company, I wasn't born yesterday and I dont need patronizing or being made into thinking I have no idea what im talking about......

If you never buy a Korg product again then Kudos to you but I still stick by my guns if they were to or any other company which has stung you in the past produce a product in the future that blows you away Im sure you would consider buying it.....if you don't then well done.If you do......a touch Hypocritical.

Maybe my comment about products and companies was a little vague.

FACT

Not enough people bought the OASYS for it to stay viable...get over it.!!! It was a great product but it was a niche and boutique instrument that was victim of economic downturn and I think Korg misread the situation in regards to cost. The majority didn't view it as value for money. How long were you expecting it to be developed for...10 years??Well you need 10 years worth of sales and continued sales to keep it running......it didn't happen. We know Korg made mistakes but I wont look at them as a company I would shy from buying again but we all make our choices as consumers......

I gotta say, I've been here awhile and ... while knowing that this is percieved by being the truth (crisis, not enough buyers, etc) and knowing that it's not entirely so... one thing just struck me a couple of months ago and didn't know wether to say this or not. But now, after I had some time to "process" it... I think I'm just gonna go and say it outloud. If that means some people might dislike what I say, so be it.

I think that OASYS did two things by mere fact that it exists.

(1) Because of the money involved (in getting one) and the semi-emotional connection which we have for that thing some of people here started to think that they're either KORG shareholders or cheerleaders or both. Which gives people some "perspective" understanding if something (like a sequencer update) doesn't happen and the thrill of something (like MOD7, STR-1 and AL-1) happening. This is called being naive and childishly cheerful. Which has at least one thing positive - the ability to be really extatic when you see something new for it. Which can be good for the music creation process. But at the same time, we shouldn't be in a situation to "excuse" the manufacturer if they said they're gonna do something which they didn't or partially didn't. We're on the other side of the fence - users. Buyers. And the fence isn't a declaration of war, either.

(2) As a result of (1), some people got overly sensitive and touchy on the subject of OASYS. No matter if that's because it's updated or not, best or not, it keeps things AWAY from the perspective of the product.

I think that one of the first things a human being should learn while growing up is to be as objective as possible in things requiring reason, not to worship something and thinking that it doesn't have a single fault on the planet. In translation - when we're talking about OASYS - constructive, yet objective criticism never hurt anybody. And KORG is - although I have had quite a few quirks with them - not a company that will take this against somebody (personally) or something (forum). That's my honest opinion. So to say that by saying (or merely saying) that there are things in the OASYS that are not "up to standard" (of expectations made by KORG) - means being reasonable. And I don't see a way in the universe that will have any influence whatsoever on future KORG products. Or OASYS, for that manner. I never said that they don't care, either - because I know for a fact that they do, especially when OASYS is concerned.

So, what I wanted to say is.... I think that we should stop being overly emotional - especially with relations to a piece of hardware however great or bad it may be - and focus on what's rellevant here. And, absolutely - this voting is flawed because there's a lack of choices that should've been there from the very start.

P.S. thekeymaster, don't think that this is pointed at you, because it's not. Talking in general here.

Sadly, I don't think I'll buy another Korg product again, but this isn't because of them discontinuing support for the Oasys, but the technical architecture is different than I'm accustomed to. That and their honesty.
In this day & age it shouldn't be necessary to have an overcomplicated system.

I've had a few Korg gear in the past, I never liked my wavestation, the N364 was too "toyish" and modern references in Korgs sales quotes with nonsense such as "Korgs groundbreaking M1, now this technology available in this XXX product". Well, you know, its over 20 years ago the M1 was developed, I'd say, move on.
I prefer Roland, you get what you pay for without the extra 'promises that never materialize'.

However, as much as I do feel that the Oasys is the be-all-to-end-all synthesizers, I felt disappointed we didn't get to see an EXf. I was hoping for this more than the other things we were offered.
And its not like they were free either, we paid good money for the extra EXi's.
Making an EXs with brass instruments, which is basically a bunch of samples, doesn't add that much value compared to an EXi.
But I got what I paid for, so I should be happy and I should have ignored Korgs sales bullsh*t, that was probably my fault for being so gullible.

How much would it have cost for Korg to be honest?
"We hope to support it for at least 5 years"
"Oasys has the possibility for extra EXf, but nothing is planned for that as of yet"
"Development has started for EXi and you will hear more when its completed" e.t.c
Keep the customer clued in on the future.

Their honesty cost them a customer - me.....sadly.

As a side note: I feel that all previous customers, from the Trinity,Triton, Prophecy, M3, M50 e.t.c were all screwed for money. Their synths are based off the Oasys.
I.e. delay the release of the Oasys so you can get more sales for 'weaker' machines, instead of investing in the future and release synths that have the best technology available at the time.

Theres always a conflict between profit and quality it seems.

About this poll:

I find it rather curious that less than 50% have voted for "Yes I would buy another Oasys"

Which means, that based off their current Oasys satisfaction-scale, if they ever made a "version 2", then they could at best hope for only 50% of returning customers.

Thats an absolute disaster for Korg, imagine if they did that for ALL their products.

But its not unfair either, just deliver what the f***ck you promise and customers will return.
Or do something ELSE, that will raise the value, such as offering 3-4 years warranty instead of 1-2. Or make a tutorial video and give it away for free with registered users.

Imagine if other technology companies, such as Sony,Philips,Panasonic,Pioneer e.t.c. could ever hope for a max. 50% of returning customers?

Makes you think........

Hedegaard, my friend, try to keep it cool there. Complaining politely is just as effective, if not more effective than dropping the f-bomb in there. The first of your post was a good example of that ;-)

First of all, I voted yes but it'd probably be on the used market. Since I got the O, I started playing a lot more than I did with the triton series, and in general its been very inspirational. I do think though that the "workstation" concept was distracting from what the O is best at and I don't use a lot of its features. Anyways, if a new O was a huge improvement, and I'd expect it would be after 6+ years, then I'd give it a serious look.

That being said, I'm far more interested in true analog at this point and could buy a whole lot of that for the same amount of money.
Mike Conway wrote:If there is something to be learned from this discussion, it would be that no manufacturer should claim anything other than what is currently in the box. I bought the OASYS for what was in the box, in 2005. Imagine if everyone else bought it for what was in the box, currently. They would be utterly smitten with the extras that came unexpectedly and not expectedly, like Access has been doing with the major Virus TI updates. (a full featured Version 4 OS forthcoming).
I agree. If you look at the near universal praise and arguably loyaty for Access from the people that actually bought a Virus, versus what some of Korg's oldest and most loyal customers are saying here, I think there is indeed a lesson to be learned here.

Still, I personally have some perspective: I feel that Korg is still more interesting than the Roland and Yamaha of today, and companies like Numark / Alesis / Akai have imho treated their customers far worse.

Lastly: For me the O is what it is - few synths are updated often, and it was updated far more than most. With Karo stuff their are still lots of possibilities. I was a little upset when the O was discontinued, but now I'm over it.

OK, back to researching analog goodies :-) .
