Korg INTERNAL Software Issue.

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

Korg INTERNAL Software Issue.

Post by ElectrikDynamite »

Hey guys,

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong section. Secondly, I'm no keyboardist/synth player so I'm not the most savvy regarding this stuff...

Anyway, onto the issue at hand. The keyboardist in our band had an accident a few weeks back, and dropped her microphone onto her Korg X5D while she was singing. This seemingly reset the internal hardware/software (?!?!) back to zero and now she has no patches, sounds, etc and can only use it as a midi controller.

I was just wondering if there was software etc we could download to get her Korg back in business - I'm pretty sure she was using default internal sounds, and I'm guessing there's better ones out there - so whatever help can be provided will be amazing. Just thought I'd check out some forums before taking it to a dealer to have them charge us heaps for something we may have been able to fix.

Cheers!!!

I don't know anything about the X5D but this page may have what you want:

http://www.korgnorthwest.com/InitsPLoadsRomChecks.htm

Initialization: Hold PROG and +10 while turning it on.

According to the X5D manual there is a battery inside the X5D to retain memory with power off. Perhaps the shock caused the battery to dislodge temporarily or permanently, both of which may explain the loss of the presets. If initializing them works but they are lost after cycling the power the backup battery will need to be re-installed. However the display should say 'battery low' if it's not connecting properly now so chances are it was only dislodged very briefly. This is all theory, I have no idea if this is what actually happened.

Hope this helps,
Arjan
