EQ IFX

Post by DTermination »

what is the difference with the tracks EQ and the IFX's EQ i mean do they do the same thing? for instance if i have 1 track routed to a parametric EQ IFX couldnt i do the same thing just using its track 3 band eq cutting and boosting where appropriate? Or is it just a matter of preference?

just interested to know

For what I have seen, IFX EQ just EQs at a filter level, while track EQ EQs single tracks. That means IFX EQ can EQ multiple tracks routed to the same filter slot.

I don't know if the "sound" of the EQ is different (from different algorithms), but the IFX EQ's allow adjustments that are much more detailed. The per-track EQ has fixed high and low frequencies, a single adjustable mid frequency, and no Q (width / resonance) adjustment. The IFX parametric EQ allows you to adjust the center frequencies of 4 independent bands, set each of their Q's, and switch between shelving and peaking for the high and low bands.

Thanks for reply lets say i had two kick drums on 2 separate tracks in sequencer mode and wanted to boost the low and low mids for instance on one kick drum and cut on the other wouldnt it be more useful to use the track eq as i dont want to route the 2 kick drums to the same IFX eq as they both would have the same EQ levels and so on and so fourth?
