static in background normal? Anyone else experience this?

Post by sixtoeightfeet »

Just purchased a new M50. When I select Combi #54, "Clavinator" I get a slight, static / hissing sound in the background. The static / hissing can be heard the instant I select this Combi, even before I start playing it. It also continues after I start playing this combi. Such noise occurs only with the "Clavinator" Combi. It does NOT occur on any other Combis or programs. Can someone tell me if this is normal? Do you get it on your M50 too? Is this something I should be concerned about? Thank You.

Check the effects that are applied to that sound .. there's a built-in effect that does that ..

Thank you all for your prompt replies. This is indeed a helpful forum. I had hoped that this static/hissing was some kind of intended, old-school effect. Your replies come as a relief. I discovered that someone had previously opened the box of my newly purchased Korg M50. The retailer addressed my concerns by giving me a 30-day, no-questions-asked return policy (in addition the full Korg warranty). Consequently, I need to make sure everything is OK as quickly as possible.
