M50 chords trigger

Post by Run »

Is there a way to change the volume on chords when triggered without changing each note velocity one by one?

The triggers store the velocity you used to play the chord. You could always re-assign the chord after playing it with a lower velocity.

If you need to vary the velotcity often, without affecting the entire program, you could do it by sacrificing the arpeggiator... but if you weren't otherwise using it, it works pretty well. Select an arp pattern like U0757 Bel- Chord then Riff, where you hear the entire chord played first. Alternatively, you could create your own arp pattern that doesn't actually move.

With the arp running, press the ARP button to switch the knobs to ARP mode, then raise and lower the velocity using knob #2.

Hope this helps,

Split the keyboard into a chord zone and a melody zone

Split the keyboard into a chord zone and a melody zone. In the chord zone, play and store your chords at maximum veolcity then use the program mixer sliders to change the velocity to any level you like.

As a newbie (I've had my M50 for three days), I don't know if this next idea is actually possible, but I'm sure someone will correct me... you may be able to assign a controller to a mixer velocity, so you can use a dial or the joystick, or a pedal instead of the touchscreen page.

If this isn't possible, consider it a feature request for the next OS upgrade :)
