I came to this forum to ask the same question, then I gave it another shot and figured it out. I'm new to music and have had my M50 since october.

I used the step sequencer to create a single measure metronome-like beat on Track 10. SEQ > Page Select > Track Edit, then the corner menu for Step recording. there's other ways obviously to record but this works well for quantized drum beats.

now that you have a measure or four of beats, go to Page Select, Pattern/RPPR. This was grayed out for me for a second, toggling RPPR semed to fix it in the Play/REC page. Hit Corner Menu > Get From Track, make sure it's starting at the right place, and hit OK.

you can test the patten out by clicking the corner menu > Event Edit > [OK], and then press Play. The pattern will repeat. Press done if you are satisfied.

at this point it would be a good idea to name the pattern with the Pattern Name tab.

Go to Corner Menu > Convert to Drum Track Pattern. I think you want to unselect the All Patterns available box. Select an open pattern and hit ok.
